A brilliant thing!!!

It comes in a small bottle and is used for teething pain. You apply a tiny amount to a cotton bud and place it on your childs sore gums. I found it works better than Bongela or Calgel.

I bought it from the local chemist, the last time i bought it was 2 weeks ago so not sure why some people are saying you get it on prescription!

I've heard that Anbesol and Orajel (and anything else like them) make babies gums tougher and causes even more pain while teething (after it wears off). Give her some Infant Tylenol for the pain and a frozen wash cloth or cold teething ring to chew on. The chewing will help her to cut the teeth through and the cold will help to relieve the pain until the Tylenol kicks in. If she's so fussy that she won't chew on the washcloth or teething ring on her own, you can hold her and rub it gently on her gums for her. Teething tablets (they dissolve on the tongue) work well, too, and they won't toughen her gums. You should be able to find those in the same area as the Anbesol. Good luck & God bless :o)

It is a topical pain reliever. They have it for infants and adults.

Most people do no suggest you use it on infants anymore, as it does not stay on the babies gum with all the spit that babies have to make that big of a difference. If your baby is acting like s/he is dealing with alot of teething pain infant Tylenol will be most effective.

But if you have a mouth sore that you would like to numb go ahead and use it. You can buy it over the counter.

The other answers pretty much tell you what it is but you need to know that repeated use of anbesol is not safe for children because of burning to the gums. I was just told this yesterday by my daughter's orthodontist. Use oragel on babies because if anbesol is not safe for my 10 year old, it certainly cannot be safe for a baby!
Make sure it's baby oragel, not the regular kind!
