its funny how the majority of answers respond without having even seen the documentary to begin with and never bother to actually ANSWER your question on the consequences to Christianity if true.....brainwashing is a powerful thing and it is this lack of open thinking that really is the root of many of the world's problems...the end of Christianity as we know it is a sure thing if pr oven true...it would be interesting to see those fanatics hang on to disproven beliefs and how the religion would adjust to this new reality as a whole

Read the last two Chapters( 20-21) of the Gospel of John. Why would John lie about all that? Why would Peter back him up? Peter died for his faith. Would he have done that if he knew there had been no Resurrection? Look at the attention to detail ( I ran to the tomb ahead of Peter but didn't go in. When Peter got there he went in, then I did. ) A lawyer would have a hard time cross- examining a witness with such a good memory for detail.
But what if it wasn't written by Jesus' disciple John? Then by who? Who would stand to gain from an outrageous forgery during a time when Christianity wasn't legal? Can anyone prove who wrote it or when if it wasn't John? No they can't . And no one will be able to prove they found the tomb of Jesus now either.

All the casket-like things called ossuaries are empty. I wonder what the archeologists were thinking when they found an ossuary with Jesus’s name on it. I can imagine the moment they removed the lid and looked in. If it were me, I’d wonder if I was going to see one of the following:
1. Nothing
2. Decomposed stuff
3. Jesus sitting up and saying, “What in Dad’s name took you so long?”
If you put an ordinary guy in an ossuary for 2,000 years, he’d clearly be dead. But if I were opening that ossuary I’d be wondering if maybe someone put Jesus in there after he died but before he arose. And maybe it’s hard to get out once you get in. I’d be worried that Jesus arose inside the stone box, and he’d be totally pissed that no one let him out until now.
I realize that this would not be the most rational worry in the world. But I like to base my worries on an expected value calculation. So for example, a 90% chance of getting a sliver would worry me about the same as a .000001% chance of a nuclear bomb going off in the backyard. In this ossuary example, I’d be looking at maybe a 2% chance of waking up an angry Jesus. I say that’s worth a worry.
If Jesus was in there, and sat up when I took the lid off, I’d first try to judge how angry he looked. If he had that money-changers-in-the-temple look, I’d go with a joke, like “Ha ha! Turn the other cheek!” Or maybe I’d try to explain to him that the extra suffering was extra good for humanity, and after all, that’s his job. Then I’d say, “Hey, I don’t like my job either, but you don’t see me complaining all the time.”
I know that some of you will say that if Jesus could move that big rock that was allegedly in front of his tomb in the traditional telling of his life, he’d have no trouble removing an ossuary lid. But he wasn’t supposed to be in an ossuary in the first place, so obviously if this ossuary is genuine, some of the details of the story were wrong. And if God let Jesus be crucified, it’s not a huge stretch of the imagination to think he’d let him stay in a stone box for 2,000 years. It makes sense to save your coolest miracle for when it’s needed most. And I think you’ll agree that this would be a good time for a messiah. And if you were God, you’d want James Cameron attached to this production. So it makes sense to me.
That’s why I’d be a crappy archeologist. I’d be afraid to open anything.

Here we go again, another sensational claim but without any substance, there seems to be an open season these days for attacking Christianity, meanwhile Islam is hailed as the real religion, what is going on?
I know one thing for sure and that is there will be many who will jump on the gravy-train of secular Atheism and Dan Browne and now James Cameron are the first of many.

No, people are still going to be stupid like seen here. Someone hinted that the FICTIONAL book of da vinci code didn't have any effect, duh it wasn't suppossed to. Someone said "Jesus was a common name" when statistically it is 1 in a million shot ALL those tombs would be there with those names. And then some guy said "bible doesn't say it, so i don't think its true." As you see, even if you prove the bible is bullshit, people will believe.

The archeologists who discovered the coffins don't believe it, so why should we? Besides that, there were no bones in the coffins, which adds strength to the ascension story.
Anyway, isn't what Jesus taught more important than any theory? It doesn't bother me if he had children, got married or even if he never ascended to heaven. What is important to me are his teachings of love and his wisdom. Which mostly get forgotten in the scheme of things.

Some family gets buried to gether. Funny how they all died together. Oops, some one placed them there?
Then some guy getting money from some studio owned by some cult, spins hype about what's "written" on some box.
Way to many questions. Even if they are all related. That is strictly hearsay, brought to you by the people who guard the dead sea scrolls.
Funny to hear how many fear this.
The writing on the coffin, is also on the wall!

they said that about the da vinci code but nothing happened.
the Church is both human and divine. human because of the sins of leaders, elders and men. Divine because from the time it was instituted by Jesus, it still is.
