Depends on what you believe, really. If you're religious, you believe that your soul goes to heaven where you get a brand new heavenly body. If you're an atheist, you believe that you don't even have a soul, and when you die you're just dead. Some other cultures believe that your soul is reborn again according to the good deeds you did in life.

The soul is an abstract figure of speech used to describe the source of a biological state we call " life". Since the source of "life" is enzymatic processes in cells, and the internal cell structure is destroyed at "death", the soul dies as the body dies, because the soul is the body and vice versa.

If I die, first I think I will get a particular judgement. At the end of the world, all of us will get a final judgement. If I die with a mortal sin, I go to hell. Hell is a place full of fire. It is where the devil was placed. Satan lives in hell. It is the place where people go if they do not love God and do not serve Him. If I die with venial sins, that I have not atoned for I go to purgatory. Purgatory is also a hot place. It is almost like hell except that the fire is not eternal fire. Someday, after I atone for my sins or after I am purified of all my venial sins, I can go to heaven. So purgatory is a temporary place of purification. If I die and I die with no mortal sin and if I have purified myself from all venial or small sins maybe I will go to heaven. Heaven is a good place. There is no suffering there. There is no pain there. We will see God face to face there. We might see our dead relatives who were good there. Heaven is eternal happiness with God. God made us to know, love and serve Him so that we can be happy with Him in heaven. I am not sure but this is what the Catholic Church teaches us. I think what the Catholic Church teaches is true.

nothing, do you seriously think you'll get an answer. First of all, the only way for us to know what happens to your soul after you die is to die and experience it for yourself, unfortunately after you die, you will not be able to tell the rest of us what happens.....Get my point.... maybe you should worry about what you want for breakfast or what to wear to work....

The flesh goes to the ground (or cremation); the soul immediately returns to the Father.
"to be absent from the flesh is to be present with the Lord".

Hi 7, I believe that our soul that gives us life will go to heaven. There will be these beautiful lights guiding us to the gates of heaven. In this beautiful light i believe my mom and grandmothers' Will be in the light to greet me and walk me through the pearly gates of GODS heaven. This is what i believe will happen when it's my time to pass. GOD forgives us of all our sins as long as we chioce to be and walk with him. A Friend.

under Islam, if you are a true believer (believe in the owness of God) and did good duties toward ur lord, that's what may happen to you:
Angels with good looking come down, and set ur special caffin far away from your eyes, the Angel of death comes to you and your soul will be pulled gently, and ur soul will come out from your throat or from ur mouth, and it will be told to you:
[27] "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
[28] "Come back to your Lord well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)!
[29] "Enter you then among My (honored) slaves,
[30] "And enter you My Paradise!"
Quran 89:27-30
the angels will carry you toward the heaven, 1st heaven, 2n,,3rd....until 7th heavens. every time you pass thru one of the heaven it will be said "what's with this good smell" . so when you reach to the 7th heaven, it will be told to return the slave to the Burzokh (life of death) until that of which you promised (day of judgement). so the angels will take you toward your Burzokh, which prefer to your grave. Burzokh is the life of death. so you will stay there, and two angels will come down onto , you will be questioned in ur grave (who is your God? what is your religion? who is your prophet?). if ur answers were honest, it will be called "this slave is honest". so your grave will be open way wide for you, and it will become such a piece of paradise. and then from two windows you will see the reward that God has prepared for you in paradise, and in the other window you will see your place in Hell if weren't done what you have done. you will stay in your Burzokh till the day of which you have promised to return back "soul and body". and will be questioned again by God himself before entering Hell or paradise.
to make things short for you, oh yes it gonna be a long way.
