Girls often use X at the end of messages, texts, emails, as almost a throwaway comment though if a guy puts an X its "oh my god whats he want" and its read into. Why is this?

I find it a nightmare to know when it actually does mean something, have been assuming it hasn't but perhaps I been missing out lol.

Good point! I would find it very odd if one of my male friends put an x at the end of a text, yet my girl friends do it all the time and I do not think twice! I think it is because girls are generally more open about how they feel towards other people and in that context, a few X's makes no difference. But, as you say, when men do it, well - it means they are madly in love with you!! Lol! x

You've answered your own question here honey....girls use it as a throwaway comment, Guys tend to be a bit more serious about using a X at the end of a message....that's why it's read into a bit more.....

Yes, girls use it a lot more than guys, as girls are lot more affectionate by nature (and using X is a sign of affection).

Guys can use it, but it needs to be more 'strategic' as girls do tend to analyze these things more (where most guys don't usually care).

However, most people use X all the time without even thinking about it - evidenced by the guy above that uses it when texting his brother! :o)

No matter what you do though, you know you'll never get it right! ;o)

hmmmm I personally do put x at the end of messages, but I just do it as a goodbye, and if i get them from a male friend (which i quite often do) I dont even notice it.... now if i got xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx at the end, then maybe i would comment that he wanted something :P and the same with a girl actually hehe Dont stress and just enjoy the kisses xx

Depends on how well you know the person I think. For aquaintances they get no x, for friends 1 x, for very good friends and family members they get 3 x's. That way I never double-cross anyone!

i never used to as thought kisses did mean more
however now i find people just use them like nothing so ive got in the habit of doing it to be nice to people back
i think its a shame people use them willy nilly now cos giving someone a kiss via text and email isnt the same like it used to be

It's a girl thing.. =)
Basically, it's normal for girls to do stuff like these..
and its so unusual for guys to do these kinda things that girls tend to read more into it..
Not to mention.. girls are girls.. they always overthink any move done by a guy.. may it be an X or whatever he says..

x mans "kiss" and it can be considered weird if a guy puts it at the end of a message to a girl who is not his girlfriend.
you know, the whole "manly" thing, and all.
personally, though, i think it's okay.

i always put and kiss (X) at the end of every text message, wether it's to my mum, dad ,brother sister, friend, just a term of affection really..quicker than putting bye!.....guys shouldn't jump to conclusions that we are after a piece of them lol
