I'm a girl, and I want a tattoo... I want it somewhere where I can show it off to people, (so no tramp stamp... lower back, or shoulder or anything) but somewhere I can hide it if I need to (aroud my grandparents, at church etc.) Im thinking about my left arm, but I dunno if that's just a guy thing.

btw, I want the Batman symbol, and than later Im going to add something going around my arm (if I get it on my arm) like a vine or something...

please, give me some advice.

wow... there's a lot of hostility in some of these answers.

first to Slew, I think your name was. this is a question section about tattoos. if you don't like tattoos, I suggest you look in different questions.

and to the couple others, I don't remember your names.

if I am going to be ashamed of it, I just wouldn't get one. I am not ashamed of wanting a tattoo, and I don't nessicarily feel like I need to "hide" it maybe that was the wrong word, but I also don't need to flaunt it when it's innapropriate... like you said, church is not a fashion show, there is no need to show off what's on my body there. people are there to worship God, not my body art. and with my grandparents... well, you just need yo know them. it's not that Im ashamed around them, it's just that I don't want to deal with them, and they're lectures.

and, I didn't mean to offend with the "tramp stamp" thing, that's just what I've always heard it called... I don't actually think girls with tattoos there are tramps.
sorry

for one guys gave "tramp stamp" but if you think about it a girl like to hid things too. I got mine on my lower back so i can hide it when i dress up (like weddings an stuff). personally getting a tattoo on you arm the most OUT there place, also i think its kind of for guys to do. when i see girls with it just dosent look so right. but places for girls are lower back, hip bones, neck, an maybe ankles.. dont worry about what ppl say about a :trap stamp" guys just started that because tattoo are for "GUYS" an when they started seeing girl getting them they wanted to make fun of them. because it shows a womens just as tought as a guy!

Hi...I have four tattoos. One on my lower back, one on my upper back, one on my abdomen (huge, it covers the whole area) and one on my ear (which I'm actually in the process of having removed, so it's not really visible anymore). What I'm sure you've already heard, but really should be stressed, is that you should absolutely make sure that no matter what you get or where you get it, it's something that's very important and sentimental and that it's done by a well known PROFESSIONAL. Do plenty of research and remember that you get what you pay for! Don't get anything "cute" or "hardcore" or dated, like a batman symbol because TRUST ME in a few years you will think it was a horrible idea. You don't think so now...but this is the truth.

Anyway, I totally regret all mine, and if I had the choice, I would not do them over again. Although, to respond to the person who said pregnancy would ruin a stomach tattoo...that's false. I had a baby and my huge tattoo still looks the same. This is actually the one that I find is easiest to hide. Clothes will always cover it. The only issue I have is that I don't like to wear a bikini in front of my in-laws, but you can fix that problem with a one piece!

The arm is a place I considered and I'm glad I decided against it. It will not always be easy to hide...for example, I stood up in a wedding last year (all family attended) and the dresses were sleeveless. It's a great example of how sometimes you cannot avoid certain pieces of clothing and everyone you know will see it! Do not do upper back or neck...those places are just as visible.

Basically, your butt is really probably the only place you can always avoid someone seeing! It's hard to believe, but it's true. Here's another tip...if you do get it on your stomach, be prepared to experience some of the worst pain you've ever felt! Childbirth was a cinch compared to that. Good luck!

You had better think long and hard about what you are going to get as it is permanent. Also why do want to hide IT from Church members, and your Grandparents? If it is something that you are ashamed of getting, and do not want others to see it, you do not need it. A Batman Flash is nothing dirty or vulgar so get it where you want to without hiding it. I am FULLY BLOUSED and have been to Church and everywhere else with no problems. I have them on my legs also. I have my 4 grandchildren on my chest, and my Daughter on my Left Wrist, along with many, many, many others. If you go to Church with deceit, what is the purpose of going? People are in Church to Worship God, and it is NOT a Fashion Show. If you do not know what Fully Bloused is, ask someone who knows and you will see what I mean.

I have four. I have one on my shoulder blade that can be covered on shown off at any time. I have gone to church in sleeveless dresses and it is very visible. I don't care what anyone else thinks. I don't have to impress them, people will always have their own opinion of you no matter what. I also have as you called it a "tramp stamp" which can be shown or covered easily. As far as worrying about what your family thinks it is your life and if you are an adult they just have to deal with it. My Dad is a Baptist Preacher. He was not thrilled when he seen them but he never said anything and I don't ever worry about hiding them when I go around the family.

well, if you want it on your arm then i guess get it there but that is going to be much harder to hide than putting it on your shoulderblade. maybe you live in a cooler climate than i do but here i wear tank tops and short sleeves 9 months out of the year so an arm tattoo would be much harder to hide. maybe you should get some temporary tattoos and put them in different places and see which place you like the best. it really is hard to imagine what a tattoo will look like until you can actually see it there. good luck with whatever you decide.

i had the same issue as well. i wanted to be able to show it off and hide it if i needed or thought that would be more appropriate. i decided to go with my shoulder blade. that way i could wear a tank top and or tube top and you would be able to see it. i could wear thicker straps or a full covered back if i needed to hide. either way there are going to be some times that it is going to be covered. another place is over your boob like on the breast bone. my mom got hers there for the same reason. she can wear a v neck and it will be seen or she can wear a crewneck and cover it up if need be. i would go with 1 of those 2.

Your ankle instead. That way you can show it off when you want too by either wearing socks or not. I have 24 tatts and no one at church frowns upon them, actually a few members have went to see my artist for their own work!

Getting a tattoo on the arm is for guys and i think it looks weird on girls.
It is not trampy to have a tattoo on your back! I have a cross on my shoulder blade and people can only see it if i wear a tank top!

If you are going to have to hide a tattoo then maybe you shouldn't get one.
