What is the best way to freeze a store-bought cake?

I got a chocolate cake for my birthday and want to freeze half of it. Is there a special way to freeze it so when I want to eat it later, it will still taste somewhat fresh?

Wrap it in aluminium foil or alternatively in a sealed plastic container which can be used in the freezer.

Use a zip lock bag large size to keep out freezer burn or moisture loss , but eat within 3 weeks as to have a fresh taste still.
