I have cross country running tomorrow at my high school. I want to know how to reduce my times, but also not suffer so much while doing it?
Or any other tips for cross country running?

Remember Cross Country is not like the 50 yard dash or the 440. It is more endurance than speed. Be agressive at the start. In a big meet like an invitational come out with your elbows up and get into the pack. Pace yourself and run your race, a nice crisp pace. When you complete your first mile, pick up the pace some more.
Breathing, breathe through your nose and exhale through your mouth. If you are stuffed up, bring some Vicks Vapor Rub and put it under your nose to keep your nasal passages clear.
The last 400 yards should be a full sprint. Adrenaline should take over here.
When your team walks the course prior to the race, pay close attention to ruts, tree roots, and other trip hazards. Make a mental note of where these are and try to avoid them. Also be on the look out for areas on the course where you can dominate (flat areas, downhills). Try to become a good up hill runner. Many runners die on the hills, this is your chance to beat them.
Most of all, have fun. You are not a professional making a living at this so enjoy it. As long as you give 100% every race, you should be happy. No one can ask more of you.

These goals are kind of contrary to each other. Running is definitely a sport where the pain tends to be strongly related to the out put and how you are doing.

Put in the mileage. The biggest risk in high school is over training to the put of injury. You are going to have to try to push yourself a best as you can during hard run and make sure you really do easy up on the easy runs.

Running hills or stadiums, high impact quad work, will probably be the #1 thing to help drop your times and make the season easier long term.

first eat properly beforehand this will prevent stitches. i usually eat 3 hours before i race but 1 hour is the minimum really. also keep your liquid levels up beforehand. to enjoy it: dont think about what your about to do before you do it, run it for the enjoyment, perhaps do it with a friend and stick together this will really help. make sure your properly warmed up to prevent sore legs and finally do your bet you cant do any more
hope this helps!

You can just go at a slower paste. It's the semi-easiest and non-painfullest way to slow down.Just run and drink water while running.Eat some food before you run.If you don't,you'll get cramps and they hurt while running.Don't eat too much food though,if you do,you'll be too bloated to run.

You can use some anabolic steroids if you want to make improvement immediately .It is not a safe way . I advise you
anabolic ones rather than androgenic ones. (i.e.primobolan)
Also EPO is a very good choice for endurance training .
But winning is not everything in life but it is important too
I hope you would not use them
Take care
