The tie is going up and climbing 5 inchs per hour, and it's already in the first step.
How long will it take untill the water cover the last step?

will never reach the top step due to the fact that the boat is floating .
the boat will rise at the same level as the tide

there are 4 steps seperated by 10 inches.
the tide climbes 5 inches per hr.
from the first step to the second step it takes 2hrsx4steps =8hours.If the boat is'nt floating.)If the boat is floating then it makes no difference the water never reaches the stairs.If it is not right I would like to know the answer please.

6 hours 4x10=40-10=30 divided by 5 is 6 hours

It will never cover the top step - the boat will float - unless it is a submarine or sinking!

it won't cover them because it is a boat, as the tide goes up, so will the boat (it floats)
