There are many kinds of air pollution with different kinds of gases.
Gases like CO,H2S,SO2, etc that are biologically harmfull.
But also some gases like CO2 that are not harmfull directly may pollute the air if they are more than usual because they cause earth temperature to rise.

Air pollution is a general term used to describe any unwanted material present in our atmosphere.

There are two main types of air pollutants.

Primary air pollutants are formed through various activities (both manmade & natural). A good example would be smoke. When something catches on fire, the smoke that is released into the atmosphere would be considered an air pollutant.

Secondary air pollutants are formed from primary air pollutants. They form either through the interaction of two or more primary pollutants, or with a primary pollutant interacting with an atmospheric component. A good example would be smog. Smog is a combination of smoke & fog. (As mentioned earlier, smoke is a primary air pollutant). The fog is formed from water vapor. The smoke and the fog interact, and produce smog.

the smoke from industrial chimneys, the smoke from any fire
the escaping gasses from spraycans ,the fumes from all internal combustion engines in the world ,all contribute to air polution

.we live in a closed system, polution that is produced in one place can end up on the other side of the world.
there are aircurrants continuesly moving all around the globe, and 5 miles up in the air is a layer which can hold things as big as frogs ,that have been picked up by super evaporation ,that can come down somewhere else.

On the North pole contamination has been found in the ice ,that could have come from Newyork,
if people burn plastics or tires the contaminated smoke will go up and join aircurrants that take it someplace else.

little birds and big heavy one can make journeys thousands of miles long.
they hop on aircurrants the way we hop on a train.
and so do contaminants
