I recently downloaded openoffice and have since saved some documents for which I used openoffice. The problem is just that I am on a computer with Microsoft Word today and the openoffice documents won't open. Could anyone please tell me in which format I should save the openoffice documents if I want to be able to open them using Word?

Click on File >> Save As
Then save as a M$ Word document.
M$ Word files have a .doc extension (filename.doc). You cannot just change the name of the file to end .doc, you must use Save As to do it.
