Applications are scored on a points system, eg.. more points if you had your job a while. So you may not have had enough points. Also, my wife phoned around and checked about 4 or 5 compaines for a loan but didn't take one out. When she went for a store card she couldn't get one because the loan enquiries brought her credit rating down. At the end of the day, the card company didn't know if she took the loans out or not.
When declined it normally states in the small print the credit reference agency they used. You can wirte to them with a cheque for £1 and they'll send your credit score details. If anything is wrong, you can write to them asking them to correct the error.

Hello, have you tried your local credit union, their interest rates are 12.68% on the declining balance of the loan, no set up fee and no early repayment penalty. You can find a list of them on the abcul website. They give loans even when you have ccj's and do not charge stupid interest rates.
To apply for a loan you need to become a member, normally paying an admin fee of around £3, they are so much better than banks, and good for the community too as they are not for profit!

If you ever get a loan it will be at a very high rate, that is how the loan companies work.
Do you really need to borrow this £3000 - what is it for? Think about this question very hard before you proceed.

Ask the loan companies that denied you what the reason for denial was and what you would need to do to get in good standing? And run your report

Check your credit file and address the problems. If you legitimatly have bad credit it's hard to get a regular loan.

Have you tried ZOPA? the online lending & borrowing exchange (set up by the same people who created the EGG brand).... UK based site, similar to prosper.com (US site).
http://www.zopa.com/ZopaWeb/affiliate/?referral=duck1979
They also pay out £30 for every new sign-up you get who borrows or lends out £500 or more.
Also, try the Loans section on Fool.co.uk
http://www.fool.co.uk/loans/compare-unsecured-loans.aspx
Includes loan comparisons, explainations on stuff to do with loans + various articles on loans.

If you have a bad credit history then it is very unlikely you will be able to get a loan of this amount from anyone.
Talk to your local citizens advice bureau, they may be able to advise.
