dogs and humans have a different base temperature. We also have a different Ph..
Virus or bacteria that live in dogs, can't live in humans, and visa~versa.
Normal temperature for a dog is 101.5 to 103.
Normal temp for humans is 98.6
Normal canine ph is 7.32 - 7.42
Normal human ph is 5.4 - 5.9 (skin)

Most human virus are not contagious to dog or cats. Human colds Can on rare cases be past to an unvaccinated dog. Be warned that the common human cold is very dangerous if caught by a dog... in a dog it is called distemper and can/will kill the dog. So make sure your pup is vaccinated

i asked my vet the same exact question and he said dogs just don't get our common cold.

Most diseases are species specific. Very few will jump from species to species. An example of a disease that isn't species specific is anthrax.
