Walk for 30 minutes every day, including weekends, Mondays, and Fridays. Do at least 30 minutes of weight training each week. Do 60 minutes of additional, higher intensity cardio each week.

Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Get rid of anything in your diet that is non-nourishing: mayonnaise and other condiments, salt, vinegar, white flour products and canned foods.

Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. Don’t starve yourself during the day, but if you don't wake up famished, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed.

Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Turn off the TV and the computer. Sleep is vitally important.

Don't consume alcohol—alcohol is nothing more than empty calories with no nutritional value. Some people will argue that alcohol has some health benefits when consumed in moderation—I’m not debating that—but we’re talking about weight loss here. Lay off the booze if you want to lose the fat.

Drink lots of water, then drink more. Not tea, not Gatorade, not milk. Water. If your urine isn’t almost clear, you need to drink more water.

Good luck.

I hope you don't consider this rude, but losing ten pounds will make you underweight. If you're unhappy with your physical fitness or lack of tone, all you've gotta do is start exercising. Do strength training! Very good for you, will make you look great, feel great, AND it will make your metabolism faster.

You should probably talk to your doctor about this too. This is especially important because you would be considered medically underweight at your goal weight. S/he will likely tell you the same things you learn here: you need to take in fewer calories than you burn to lose weight.

Other than that, here are the three best diet tips I can give you:
- Drink more water. Drink MORE than 8 glasses. It's great for you and will help prevent dehydration, which is a serious concern if you're restricting your food intake.
- Eat a salad before every meal. Seriously. Iceberg lettuce doesn't count. Make it with something dark, and throw in brightly colored vegetables like carrots and peppers.
- Switch to whole wheat bread and brown rice.

Please, though, do talk to your doctor... this is especially important if you're a gymnast/dancer or other kind of athelete and losing weight for yoru sport. If you don't do it right, you can seriously damage your body and then your career is shot. (It's also important because you're young enough that some systems might still be developing. You could need supplements to prevent damaging your skeletal or reproductive system.) Okay?

eat chicken and pasta and green beans and exercise for 30 mins every day and drink 9 glasses of water a day.

thirst is often mistaken for hunger. Everything from joint pain to depression to insomnia is attributed to dehydration (lack of water).
the average human needs 9 glasses of water a day.
