Probably around a 6 pack of budlight, plus the glass of wine. I'm feeling a little nauseous now that I'm getting ready for bed. What can I do to prevent the cocktail flu?

Unknown X, I never said I got drunk. But I'm feeling quesy more than I normally do for that amount of alcohol...sometimes the same amount doesn't slide down the same way twice. Sometimes you can drink more than others, and I have been dieting. At any rate, thanks for all the good answers. The ones that say "to prevent a hangover; don't drink" are especially insightful. Those people are geniuses.

Drink a lot of water, and if you are not lactose intolerant, drink milk, it has always done me right. Eat something "heavy" if you can. There also exists a legendary cocktail to prevent hangovers. It consists of half a can of Coke, a spoonful of coffee grounds, two ibuprofen, and a raw egg. It may cause you to vomit immediately, but if you get it down you will feel great the next morning. Another helpful hint is to stay awake for as long as is possible/or reasonable for you. For some reason I have always found the longer I stay up, and don't drink alcohol, the better I will feel. In the morning it is best to eat as much as you can stomach and continue drinking water in order to prevent the dreaded late-onset afternoon hangover. Do not pay attention to Miss Scientist who posted above, go with us who have practical experience. Oh yeah, wine is almost always behind the worst hangovers, as someone has pointed out.

Wow, some of these people are really reaming you, huh? You're right -they're geniuses.
Everyone who said hydration-whether from water or Gatorade-is correct. The main cause of a hangover is dehydration. Except for the one rocket scientist who said take a Tylenol, implying that it somehow would also stave off dehydration-have you not heard that Tylenol is contraindicated if you have consumed more than a little alcohol? Since both are metabolized in the liver it can cause liver damage. The same is true to a lesser degree for other NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxyn and even aspirin).
Water and food are your best bet-good luck.

decrease back in the olden days, when I did drink, it replaced into constantly nicely worth it because of the fact i'd desire to easily have some in the morning and not extra hangover. Now that i do no longer drink alcohol from now on, beneficial circulate forward, have exciting, drink up, rejoice with, have a great time, do no longer problem I won't have a headache day after today. Is that merciless? Too undesirable, i are not getting hangovers anymore the two.

The drug Chaser actually does work, but doesn't work as well after the fact. better to take it before you drink, and as you are drinking. Water and tylenol/aspirin before going to bed do work, and the risk of liver damage isn't really that high if it's an isolated incident. Once you have a hangover though, the only thing that really helps is sleep, water, and some foods (usually different for different people). Scrambled eggs and tomato juice seem to work really well for me, but for some of my friends either of the two make things worse. You can also research Migraine home remedies. I have migraines fairly often that are far worse than any hangover I've ever had, and a lot of the things that sort of help migraines a little work miraculously on a hangover headache.

If you drank to much how do you have the ability to properly type?

Whatever. Drink egg yolk crack a egg into a glass and drink it straight or try that Chaser from the Drug store. They also have this drink called Millionaire or something but it's only sold in the south and Las Vegas.

by the way Drinking water actually makes it worse - I know from personal experience.

Eat a couple pieces of bread and drink one full glass of water. Don't take any medicine, don't try to use your brain to much (tv is ok though), and don't do any major physical excersie. If you have some antacid medicine (like tums, or rolaids) then go ahead and take a couple of those. In the middle of the night, try and wake yourself up to use the bathroom. At that point in time, drink another glass of water (and maybe even eat another piece of bread if you are sitll feeling drunk) and go back to bed. Sleep well!

Two Tylenol and a couple glasses of good old H20 just prior to falling asleep. The hangover is caused by dehydration and both will help with that.
