Wow, where to begin? A veritable feast of ignorance here, and no mistake...
Okay, the actual question first... As many Wiccan/Pagans have answered, it's simply a blessing used when leaving.
Looking under the surface, you can see that it's a kind of reafirmation of faith mantra used by pretty much every group with a belief. The trouble with belief is belief itself - there is no solid or tangible evidence for that which you "believe". Therefore, most cults, religions and political causes encourage the group to recite dogma mantra style at any given opportunity, for fear that an individual might actually start to think for themselves and question the belief.
In their defence, the "message" is nearly always a wise and caring one - as "blessed be" in this case. However, consider a peace protest by way of dramatic illustration of this point. You will find on any good demonstration a number of individuals who whip up the rest - same with religion. Everybody there believes in a good thing - peace. The ringleaders get the chants going - "What do we want? Peace! When do we want it? NOw!" etc.
Then an ambulance with a police escort tries to get through, and the mob at a high emotive level has lost sight of sense. You will see them blocking the emergency services vehicles "for the cause" while chanting their peace slogan. Meanwhile somebody inside the ambulance suffers undue pain and might even die. Presumably, avoiding human suffering and uneccessary death is why you're on a peace protest in the first place, but chanting the slogan has become the most important thing in the heat of the moment.
And that's how people are - well - not all of us, but an alarmingly high number...
So that's why you get crabby replies with "blessed be/ God bless/peace" etc stuck on the bottom. It's like they're saying "I'm better than you because I have my religion and can't be called into question because I'm doing God's bidding", at a subconscious level.
Okay, then, onto the cretinous replies... Judaism is Pagan? Interesting how quick the Christians are to come up with this... I imagine they think calling another religion Pagan is an insult - I'd just be relieved if I were Pagan or Jewish that the Christians didn't identify with me... oooh, look at me all bitchy... Seems the Christian brigade have forgotten from whence they came... Oh and Paganism and Wicca are not one and the same thing - Wicca is born of Paganism, so while Wiccans are Pagan, not all Pagans are Wiccans (like Catholics are a type of Christian)
Then there's the highly amusing correction of "there" to "their".
The word you were looking for is they're - but at least you didn't try to sound as though you knew any better. That person must feel very stupid now - and that's because they obviously are very stupid.
There - relates to a time or place - over there, at that time there were...etc.
Their - belonging to them - their house etc....
They're - abreviation for "they are".
Here endeth the lesson.
I'm an atheist, so I'll just say goodbye.
PS take a wild guess as to whether I'm a dumb yank or not...

i don't always put BB at the end of a post, but most of the time i do. i sincerely hope that i have never been nasty or insulting to any one.
i'm not wiccan, although i am a pagan. as a rule wiccans and pagans are a very peaceful and laid back group. i'm sure there are exceptions to this, i just haven't seen any.
as far as i understand it jewish people are not pagan.

I am a Pagan/Wiccan and I put blessed be on everything I post to other wiccans. The phrase refers to being Blessed by the Goddess our principle deity. Eveything we say or do is done in her name.
Wiccans are not allowed, by the Wiccan Rede (Rules) to insult other people, or do harm to them in any way at all. So those so called Wiccans are not true Wiccans. True Wiccans are kind and benevolent to everyone and if people are harmful to us, we do not retaliate, we simply ignore them.
Hope this helps.

It's only the some of Wiccans (not all Pagans) that do that and they do it for the same reason you'll see Christians end their posts with "God Bless You" etc...

Why do Christians put "God bless you" at the end of nasty answers? Do they think that makes it ok to be nasty?
Btw, I'm Pagan. How often does anyone on here see me say Blessed Be? I only say it to other Pagans. I've learned to keep my religion to myself, just like Christians should.

hmmmmmmmmm why do you think we are nasty? Blessed be and merry meet and merry part are wiccan greetings and partings. many people say god bless, like red skelton always did on his show. simply meant he had no ill will and good wishes for people, so despite he mentioned god, i didnt feel at all insulted. so,,,,, Merry Part and Blessed Be

They put blessed be at the end of everything because they love everything, they want you to know that they are not holding a grudge against you, they are simply angry with you. (and they are not nasty BTW).
