Judging from all the poeple who still believe in invisible gods, I would say it is easier to believe than doubt. Believing just takes emotion. If you want to believe something, you will tend to believe it. Religion shows the lengths that people will go to rationalize what they want to believe. Doubt, on the other hand, takes some rational thought. Humans have been emotional animals for far longer than rational ones. We have a harder time with doubting.

Because everybody doubts. When there is no evidence and the majority of the world disagree with whichever religion you are part of, it's a rare person who has no doubts.

Belief and disbelief are harder as the former requires faith without supporting evidence and the latter requires reason (not meaning that theists do not reason, just that it is rare to find someone who became an atheist without using reason to reach that conclusion) and going against the norms of society.

It needs no human wisdom to doubt, All kids and immature people can doubt everything.
But it needs high level of knowledge and genuine observation to believe.
When we meet any stranger in the street, we easily consider him as an untrustful man and ignore him or suspect him. But it needs true knowledge to realize that he is a noble rational being deserving our love and respect, and moreover he cannot do anything to harm our soul, so we can easily trust him.
That is why we need to learn the teachings of the One True God in order to know and to practice the divine lesson of sefless love.

The growing evidence, much of it provided by religion that God was created by man. When it was discovered that so many priests had been molesting children for decades and God never intervened, I became a non-believer. If there is a man living in a cloud, he is a disgusting deity. Did he enjoy watching priests destroy the lives of thousands of children? The truth of the matter is that God did not create man but ancient man who created God.

Our imperfect, fallen Human nature. We have to see proof and tangibles. Look at doubting Thomas. He would not believe Jesus rose until he could put his hand in the wound and see with his own eyes that Jesus was alive. This is how most people are. They won't believe unless they can see.

The proof is all around you, it takes more faith to believe that this is all just random chance than to believe in a higher power. To me that is God. Some believe in something else. It takes more faith to be an atheist then to be religious.
