It sounds like you havent been diagnosed correctly. Try another psychiatrist.

Sounds bad, but not over. Shrinks are great since they love to have you talk followed up with some magic pills that will make everything better. Lets face it, this is never the case!

Perhaps you should try meeting with a psychologist instead of a psychiatrist. The two are different in the means by which they approach the problem Psycologists are more interactive and less "drugy".

If nothing else, find something which does make you even the slightest degree happy and keep it near you.

I am so sorry. i have felt that way too. I do take Lexapro now and it does help me. That is the most hopeless feeling in the world I have been there.

Do you know what made this began or when it began so you can narrow down the problem? Do you have extreme highs and lows? I am not giving you a medical answer, but be tested for bi-polar which is manic depressive it is a very real disease and if not treated properly it can have devastating results...good luck

First off why are you so depressed? What has caused you to be so hurt and sad, these things you need to figure out first because I'm sure you are not feeling this way just because you want to and when you figure out why you are feeling this way then you can begin to take steps to do something about it,who knows maybe you don't even need to be taking those pills.Let me tell you something,my son has been missing for almost 3 years and that in its self is enough to have anyone feeling the same way you do but I had to make up my mind that I just couldn't let myself go to pieces, you just have to be strong life is too short to be unhappy all the time, maybe you need to talk to someone who is going to truly listen to you and not just drug you up,but like I said figure out what is making you so unhappy and try to work it out,I know you can do it just believe in yourself and God,Try going to church who knows maybe God is all you really need.I hope I was able to help you a little.

Maybe you should try to reach out and find new friends.Yahoo chat is a great start. You can make friends without having to meet them in person.Depression tends to make people antisocial and withdrawn. You seem to have been through a great tragedy, and there are others out there who have as well.If nothing else, remember you are not alone. You can contact others in times of severe distress. This too, shall pass.Just stick around to help others when this crisis is overcome.

I too suffer from this uncaring illness and am 43 yrs of age and I still struggle and remind myself every morning, that this day is going to be a good day because I chose it to be. Never stop taking your meds, they really do work but you must have an open mind and be willing to try with everything you have in you to get better and let the meds work to their fullest. Have an open mind and trust in yourself that you will get past this and once again feel happy inside and actually like yourself.
Peace be with you- You will be alright, you will get past this, and you will love you self again. Just keep saying this to yourself every day.

really, just whatever it is, don't give up trying. it sounds like you might have been misdiagnosed. there are hundreds of anti-depressants, and i'm sure one of them will work for you. get another doctor, go to another shrink. just dont give up. love for life will come back to you. i promise, it happened to me. i didn't got to the doctor, i forced my slef to change my life and everything about it, it seemed to have helped. however i still have my downs and my ups rarely and tehy don't last long.. but it worked, i changed my job, dumped the bf, moved, bought a new car and seemed to have helped. but like one of the answers said: get tested for bi-polar. usually it is bi-polar if you have ups and downs, but it can be bi-polar if you have all downs and like one up for a short period of time. GOOD LUCK! don't give up! there is more to life then the everyday routine: school, work, clean home shower sleep.. really there is more. travel see the world, meet people that have it worse than you. it will put things in perspective. there are so many things you haven't experienced and by doing them you might help yourself out.

It's the pits being depressed all the time, no matter what. Depression is a very serious disease, you can't just stop seeing a psychiatrist. Try another psychiatrist-maybe the whole thing will be better this time.

dear friend, you are very fortunate! god has set his eyes on you.. depression is the soul's call to you to attend to a long pending, unresolved issue which needs to be attended.. please do not try to wish it away or run from it.. there is a limit to what we humans can do, seek gods help through prayers.. also read, 'many lives many masters' by dr.brian weiss, it should give you an insight into the cause and help you find your way through this.. my prayers are with you, good luck!
