Yah. They'll work wonders. As, a selfish boy is always possesive he'll always like the girl to be with him which is also the same motto of a clingy girl!

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Clingy girls are considered high maintenance. Selfish guys don't like to bother with these kind of women, unless they can get something out of it...usually for having them as eye candy or sexual favors. If the clingy girl is not sufficient for the selfish guy's expectations or needs, she is usually tossed aside like a used Kleenex.
The same also applies to clingy men. But most clingy men are given restraining orders by selfish women.

No, it can't work. I've been that clingy girl with the selfish guy, and all i got was hurt. He always did whatever he wanted to do and I was just always there waiting around for him to get done with his stuff to be with me. Trust me, the answer is no.

it won't work for the girl, she'll feel bad because of his selfishness and that she has to be clingy to get his attention

While anything is possible, I would say no.
It might seem ok for a time, but eventually even the most velcro of clingy girls is going to be irritated with constantly sacrificing for him and she'll grow to resent him.
