Call of duty, directx problems...?

I installed Directx 9 and then Installed COD2, when installation is complete, I insert the disk and autorun brings up the actievex window, starting up game boot. an error message subsequently pops up claiming an irrepairable error occured in directx and clickig on "ok" automatically routed me to a web page troubleshooter. after exhausting all windows, directx, and intel (my video card driver) troubleshooting options with no different outcomes I would like to know how I can play my new game... please help

reinstall direct x.. put latest version ie. 9.0c

Run dxdiag from run command and check what is the issue with Direct X
