The religion and spirituality section is for those who want to learn about religion and spirituality OR debate about it. Therefore, people of all beliefs or lack thereof, can come here to discuss it.
And who are you to think that all atheists are not spiritual whatsoever.
If you look up the definition of an atheist, you will see:
A - without
theist - God
"Atheist" - One without God.

It does NOT, however, say that we are without spirituality. Many atheists believe in different things. I, for instance, believe in reincarnation. Many atheists believe in ghosts. I believe these examples fall under spirituality.

Granted, there are bad apples in every barrel. You'll get disrespectful atheists that come here and try to burst everyone's bubbles. BUT there are trolls like that in EVERY religion on Yahoo Answers. So, please do not single out the atheists when you have no evidence to support that ALL atheists are like this. If you have a dispute with a particular atheist, discuss it with them instead of demeaning the entire group.

Good night.

I'm going to highlight the most obvious of the many flaws in your reasoning - you assume that a section on religion and spirituality is for the religious (and spiritual). It's not. This is a question and answer website and this section is on the topic of religion and spirituality. Atheists have as much right and reason as theists to be here.

In fact, your question asks for atheists to answer it - and then suggests they should not be here. A little illogical, don't you think?

I am of no religion. The closest belief I hold is probably Buddhism. It's more a philosophy than a religion.

And for those of us who do not believe in a god who are here, we do so because we have every right to comment about there NOT being a god just as much as you have the right to say THERE IS.

We know automobiles exist, so if you were to go to the auto forum and say they don't exist, you'd just be a foolish git. You cannot compare the two. God is a speculation that one believes through faith. Automobiles are known to exist. They're tangible and real.

Dude, Atheists do not have a religion. They don't believe in any Gods. It is possible for someone to be Atheistic and spiritual though.

A person does not have to practice a religion to enjoy discussions about it. To run with your amusing comment about hanging out in the automotive section..Just because I don't personally own a Dodge Viper (for example) doesn't mean I cannot have a conversation about them. Likewise, someone who doesn't practice a particular religion is capable of having a discussion about it.

And you have received plenty of "legit" answers. What were you expecting to hear?

I have no religion, and no "spirituality" that has a particular name.

*sigh* Why can't anyone ever read the other bajillion posts that ask this same question?

I'm here because I'm interested in religion and spirituality as an intellectual and academic subject. I'm here because the religious beliefs of others influence the world I live in, the politics of my nation, the education of our nation's children, our civil rights; therefore, I need to understand what people believe and why. I'm here because people occasionally ask intelligent questions regarding the philosophy of atheism; more commonly, people have misconceptions about atheists or atheism that I, as an atheist, can help clear up.

Finally, I'm here because it's a public domain and I can go anywhere I feel the desire to in it.

Personally,, its not like I am totally against religion. I look at religion as a philosophy rather than a "sacred" thing. Whoever found religion, did so because they wanted people to live happily. One can either live in ignorance and believe in it, which will make their life better, or can dare to think beyond and say, I have my own way of leading a better life. I have my own religion.

I am an atheist and consider myself very spiritual, more so than most Christians I know.

I do not belive in god, becasue there is no proof of one. But there is nobility in all life and in the very soil of the earth. All things are the stuff of life and have the potential to be many things. It's all around us, and in the air. What could be more spiritual than that? It's called matter, and it is the stuff of life, and it is wonderfull.

We are part of the world, and need to treat it well, as we need to treat all other humans well, with repect, dignity and compassion.

I need no god to be a good person, and netiher does anyone else.

Genisis chp1 verse 3 says this being created LIGHT.
Now go and study the physics of LIGHT. and the theory of relativity. It's fantastic. Light is stupendous.
Now look at Genesis chp 1 v26. This being says HE is going to make man in his image.
Stop. Think.
cheetahs are faster, elephants are stronger, birds can fly with no engine etc ... my cat can jump the equivalent of a tall building, cockroaches would survive nuclear and ants , ants are just amazing. So Genesis prooves god does NOT exist.
No I do NOT believe in that cruel humanistic god. What a mess he made if he created humans, we kill, we create wars etc. We have some great points like love communication etc but do not use them enough.
Some weak people like you need a crutch to pray to.
Not me. I believe in the good people I have met. I believe in just saying THANKs I exist, having nice family work etc. I believe the Universe just IS. Isn't that wonderful.

You just lucked out, I have the answer, but by the phrasing of your question your not going to like the truth.
DEFINITIONS: Atheist = A - meaning apposed, theist meaning one who believes in the existence of GOD. Theo (Greek) meaning GOD. Religion = a belief binding a man to a supernatural being. Spirituality = the state of or pertaining to the immaterial nature or soul of a man.
Okay, now we can proceed, wait you no longer have a question that makes any sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please refer me to the Yahoo Terms of Service section that species Yahoo Answers as a Christian only site.

Because (1) people constantly ask atheists question in this category; (2) I have good answers and good questions; (3) I'm spiritual.

You, I assume are religious. I think it's absolutely impossible to be spiritual AND religious, so by your own standards, you should leave. Now. Gone. Bye.
