OMG... I am having the absolute worse back pain. I can't even walk or get out of bed without bursting into tears. Sleeping on either sides with pillows tucked under me is so uncomfortable. Heating pads, ice packs and even IcyHot doesn't work!!! When i do get up to walk it feels like my hip is out of its socket and my lower back constantly cracks and pops... what can i do to relieve this pain????

I would call your doctor and talk to him/her about that...I know that certain back pain in certain times of your pregnancy is not normal~!

See a chiropractor and massage therapist.
Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

I would highly recommend that you ask your OB/GYN for a referral to a physical therapist experienced in women's health and/or orthopedics.
In the third trimester (not sure where you are since you did not mention it) your body releases a hormone called relaxin. It basically makes your ligaments loose which can be a cause of back pain for pregnant women. It does not resolve until several months after delivery. Most of the time the pain that you may experience because of this resolves but in some women it lingers, most likely if you had some pre-existing problem prior to getting pregnant. Please feel free to ask any additional questions.

I carried my daughter extremely low my entire pregnancy and she was pushing on my spine constantly. I went through all the same things you're describing so I sympathize with you completely!
My midwife prescribed me Darvocet. It's a narcotic, but it's a Class B narcotic and is perfectly safe to take while pregnant. Try talking to your doctor about this option. It brought me an enormous amount of relief.
By the way, my daughter is now 4 years old and healthy as ever. Just to put any possible doubt to rest. :-)

I had lower back pain in the last few months of my pregnancy. Call your doctor. He can either prescribe something to help with the pain or he may want to see you. I had a pretty advanced kidney infection that was causing my lower back pain.

Gosh, I wish you had said how far along you were.... you could be in what's known as "Back Labor". Which is a true labor, you just don'r feel it where you would expect to. You really need to go to the ER... don't mess around with you or your baby.
