music is a universal language...(lyrics aside) it's a magical magnet..that invokes many different feelings...it's mathematical, rhythmic, cultural, specific and/or general. It can unify and diversify...even the deaf can testify they "feel" music...it's a fabric, a tapestry of life and death...of faith or lack, thereof...nothing else comes close to touching the "soul" both positively or negatively....It's the same to all, one way or the other.. there's little else on Earth that can claim similar strength and feedback....music is a gift or a curse...it's all things to some and some things to all

Growing up in the late 1970's and early 1980's, I use to listen to Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne and some of those types of groups. After becoming a born again Christian, I got convicted of some of that music, although I still listen to music from the 70's as long as it does not glorify satan. I also like Country Western and Hymns that are in Country Western form. Some of the songs make me feel closer to God.

Music has a very great effect on us. Satan, when he was Lucifer in heaven and the head angel, was the head of music. He uses music tremendously today.

I am a born again Christian and I only listen to gospel music. Some of the cd's I have, although they sing about the Lord, do nothing for me spiritually and I attribute this to be due to the fact that the actual singer's life is not completely in accordance with what the Lord requires, or does not love the Lord as they should. Then there is other music that touches me deeply every time.

If you listen to love songs, it creates a desire in you. Same with other music. Music is powerful and can have a good effect or very bad effect on us.

Music has direct effect upon the soul: Doctrine of Ethos. This is what I learned in the Conservatory of Music. Haven't you noticed that when the song is lively, you tend to dance and go with the beat? But when the music is sentimental, you seem to be sentimental too. Music is essential to worship. Music started with the religious practices and it evolved into secular music, which is now very popular.

For me, there are many religious music that help me feel connected or closer to my God since I sing for the choir in the Church.

I love hearing classical music in church. When the pipe organ is playing Bach, or the choir is singing Handel, I feel such an intense connection to God. To me, sacred music ties in with the classic and complex art in the church to help direct my focus toward something infinitely higher than myself.

The song "Caribbean Blue" by Enya just makes me think "Heaven"..music certainly does help you escape the pain of everyday life, if only for a few moments and helps you connect with your own soul and God.

It definitely has to do with people's point of view and sensitvity - and whether they think there IS a higher power.
Music definitely has a direct connection to feelings, it has something to do with the subconcious and previous memories or whimsies.

I love music. Most any kind: rock, R&B, soft, old, new, just about anything. I hardly ever watch TV becuase I'd rather listen to music. It is a wonderful gift from God. Music allows us to express things we wouldn't otherwise be able to. I always praise God while music is playing.
