Contact Childrens Home Society, or look under adoption agencies.

When you say "locally" are you in US? If so, contact an agency in your area, you can find them on line or in phone book. They will more than likely deal with domestic or international adoptions, and you can decide which you are interested in.

I would recommend that, if you are knew to the process, to do your research. There is a ton of information to be learned when adopting, things you will find "change your way of thinking". It is an emotional journey that can take time, but the end result is well worth it.

Be prepared to give up control, and to use all of the patience you can muster up! Attend seminars, and read, read, read!
