How about this strange idea. Who said you had to get drunk at a bar. You can go and not drink at all and enjoy the bands or dancing. Or you can go and shudders to think actually only have a beer or two and chill out and you would still be under the limit.

I have done both of those things allot. I also have gone to the bar early drank allot and then sat in the parking lot with friends for hours until we were sober enough to drive legally. Another option walking down the street for breakfast while waiting to sober up.

The parking lots are there so when you get hammered and need to fight somebody there is a venue for the fight to take place. Parking lots are also good places to urinate if the bathroom is crowded. Also, a good percentage of the people who go to bars do not drink so much that they can not drive home and then there are those people who do drink to much but are cool enough to drive home and they all gotta park somewhere. Also bar parking lots are a fun place for cops to hang out and intimidate you in to taking a cab or walking home.

They have parking lots because everybody drives cars. If a bar doesn't have a parking lot it would close because nobody would go there. In some parts of the world the car is the only mode of transportation. I can't take a bus to the bars, can't take one home either. Walkings out of the question, too far. Too cold at night to ride my bike, so it looks like I'm driving and I'll find my home. Maybe if you have ever gone to a bar you would know how this works.

You're funny. How are the customers going to get to the bar in the first place? Most bars allow you to leave your car there overnight, while you take a cab home or get a DD to drive, and then you can come pick up your car the next day.

So you can park there, maybe drink, and find a taxi or drive yourself back. Bars have soda, too.

Because the whole idea of bars having parking lots was designed before we were such a paranoid, fear-based, nation.

they have parkings lots because we don't have anywhere to tie up our horses.

That would be cheaper on us instead of a DUI it would only be public intoxication if you fell off your horse, less accidents because most horse know how to get home.
