My wife has spinal stenosius, she had surgery last year and it help her alot, but her very bottom disc is out causing her to walk, stand,or sit without it being difficult and painful. She also has protruding dics in her neck as well as 2 buldging discs. Her Dr. had told her that if physical therepy doesn't help in another 3 months, that he'll just keep her on Oxycoton 40mg as long as it works for her.
Now,is there something wrong with this picture or am I that dumb. I need all the help I can get.

If physical therapy does not work, she may just have chronic pain. She can take oxycontin for the rest of her life untill it no longer works, or she can try alternative medicine like; acupuncture, massage, meditation, either by its self or in combination with the oxycontin. Good Luck to you both.

Should they...no. Could they be however, it is possible.

For example my mom had lung cancer and uterine cancer that metastasized ans riddled he body. She was given 6 months to live...but she hung on for 6 years because promised m younger sister that she would see her graduate for UCLA She did 5 and 1/2 years later and my mom died in 6 months. During that time my mother was powerful narcotics...Dilaudid...14x stronger than morphine...known a being as close to heroin as legally possible. When she started on oral 2mg Dilaudid in 1983 the street price was $35-$40.....per tablet. And my mom was prescribed 300 per month...price...nothing.

I digress. So yes, she was on strong Schedule II narcotics for the rest of her life; albeit only long 6 years and not something like 20 or 30 years.

Have you considered trying injections? An interventional pain management specialist can help you not only with the injections but also with the appropriate medications. Ask for a referral to one. Make sure it is someone who does the injections and not just drugs otherwise you are in the same boat then that you are now.

my mom gave me the best doctor advice ever.
GET MORE THEN ONE OPINION.
you dont need to take his word for it.
tell him your concern and ask him to reffer you to another doctor OR THREE.
