My family is so religious that I'm afraid they will disown me. I have always tried to date guys and suppress my urge to be with women. But I can no longer hide my feelings. What will I do, or how will I tell them or do I need to? Please help...

princess here is what I did .
I was tormented like you but since i did it my girlfriend and i feel free to enjoy eachother now.
It feels so free ..speaking from experience .. to tell people i'm a girl lover , to put it nicely .. say it casually. mention ellen degenerous married her girlfriend in passing and see how they react . then i said.. i hope to find a great girl too .
look to see if they get ' the look ' of disapointment or what. what can they do but accept it since they love it.
took mine 2 days but they said as long as i was happy.
that line i made up works like a charm ..
because it's subtle and right to the point and nicer sounding words . and 7 of my friends used it and it worked, it didn't come out so
shocking as ' i'm a lesbian ' is.
just try it ..

Well, you have known your family long enough to know what their reactions will be... So, therefore it is hard for us to help you out..
NO magic words. You are what you are.. hold your head up high when you tell them... acting ashamed will NOT help one little bit.
You may want to weigh the consequences of telling them... especially if this could bring them pain.. BUT the world is changing and perhaps they would have more acceptance than you realize...
Feel them out on this first please.

Date guys that are so offensive and heinous that you family can't stand them. Make each one worse than the last. Date guys that make passes at your sisters and your mom, drink to excess at family functions and in general act like a**holes.
Then bring a really lovely, ladylike girl to a family function. Simply introduce her as "my best friend". Hugs are expected between best friends. Somebody will probably say something like, we wish the people she dates were more like you. Then you can say, this is who I'm dating now. Before you break the news about dating your sweet, ladylike friend, make sure you have a commitment that your whole family loves her. That'll make it a lot easier for you, and a lot harder for them to be a**holes about it.

You know, I have two daughters, I love them very much and if any of them tell me in the future that meet women then nothing happen. It could be a shock for a moment but I will not stop to love her. This is Your life.

1st thing is to let them know you still love God,
then start from the beginning and tell them everything that is on your heart if you have a girlfriend who came out to her parents talk to her about it and you can even have her parents talk to yours so they will know they are not alone... But when somebody tells religious people that they are gay, they automatically think that they hate God and the way they were brought up, just let them know that that is not the case... Good luck

just sit them down and tell them. there isn't going to be an easy way to let them know (unless they already know and were just waiting for you to tell them) just be understanding of their feelings too they might have questions or they might even be agree for a while but they are still your family and I'm sure no matter what they will love you no matter what! It's sad that your relationship with your family is at risk, but you have to be true to yourself. Even if some cut themselves off from you, they may come around. There is a lot of information out there from people that have been through it. Maybe some of it will help.

i'm guessing youre a woman.
why tell them? why not just do it and then tell them how funny that they didnt know! then laugh it off.
if you have a family that's up your rear and you couldnt laugh it off then just tell them you have an announcement and tell everyone so they can all go into shock together...,then dont leave so they have to absorb it in front of you and giggle inside as they wiggle around.
youre the one who has to be happy. if you're hiding your true feelings to let someone else be happy...then youre robbing yourself.

Dont tell them any thing. They will make your life tough. Just remain silent and do what pleases you. If you have finished studies work at a place which is far away from your family.

tell them you don,t understand why but you tried to date men but that you feel that your more interested in having same sex relationship.also that you tried to go straight, but your true feeling is for women.good luck.
