Hey,
Dont worry all tatts do that. The only thing you should be worried about is bruising and discoloration. Never use petroleum jelly no-matter-what your "friends" tell you, it does not allow the tatt to breathe. Try to get to a tattoo shot and get "Tattoo-Goo" or, just keep using your non-scented lotion and leave the scab alone. Try to keep the tatto out of water if possible, and dont expose it to direct uv/uvb rays(sunlight).

Bon Scott

P.S. It's Nautical, not nanical lol

Only one thing to add to the above... don't overmoisturize the tattoo. You can block the pores on the skin and aside from a rash, it will itch like you wouldn't believe. This seems to be a common problem with 1st tattoos; happened to me. Less is more in this case.

Also be sure not to let the moisturizer spread onto the untattooed skin. That area doesn't need it and can get a rash super-quick. It's a little harder to get to some areas like the lower back, so just keep an eye on it.

This is especially so if you have the tattoo in a place where it isn't that exposed to the elements, like under a loose shirt.

I've been applying fairly limited moisturizer (eucerin unscented), and I've noticed that it just doesn't itch that much when I'm in the healing process - if at all. The skin is still not dry; it just isn't soaking and/or slimey.

this is natural healing process of tattoos.... Your artist didn't explain this to you? It should take 5-7 days for the scabs to come off, by this stage you should see if any areas need touching up, if thats the case, go back and this should be done for free... (well it is in Australia..)

Keep applying the cream until completely healed!

scabbing is normal. The pain is also normal. Do not use lotion clean with soap and water only. The scab will fall off and the tattoo will appear much more vibrant. My brother-in-law is a tattoo artist.

all tattoos form scabs. you have an open wound with ink inside it. the scab will start coming off in a few days. just leave it alone. don't scratch it or pick at it. just keep moisturising it until it is completely healed.
