I am from Mexico and I know a lot of mexicans and all of them have tell me a reason why they are here, including my own story:
There is no work and no opportunity for a good future.
In Mexico, 5 out of 10 College graduates work in the field they study. The other must do some menial work. Also the wages are not enough to to fill the basic necesities. People come here because even thoug we are being paifd low iwages, it is still more that we would make in Mexico. Also we come form big families so there is more than one mout to feed and we have no elder care, or a good one in that case for my grandmother had pension, but it seems was very small. So the sons have to take care of their elderly parents.
Education is also a big reason even thought it may be a myth. We believe that there is a better education in the US than in Mexico but this is not necesarily true for there are some universities in Mexico that could compete with American universities.
Also, violence. Because the American demand of narcotics and other drugs, there are multiple drug cartels in several states that shipped, grow, harvest and transport illegal drugs. The drug lords cause a state of fear in the inhabitants and there are many senseless killings. I come from juarez, so just do a google search about The Juarez cartel and Las Muertas de Juarez and you will know more about this.
believe me...we love our country, we love Mexico and we are proud to be Mexicans but proudness does not feed us or clothe us. Nor the beauty of our forests and beaches. we need the money and that is why we come for the US

Most of the people in Mexico want go to USA, they are not leaving Mexico for fun, they emigrate because they need money, most of the people in Mexico are very very poor and they can't find a good job even when some of them are doctors, lawyers, etc. they just can't find good jobs so you can see most of them working as taxi drivers or owning a very small business like selling food and things like that (in Mexico).
And the Mexican government feel apathy for this problem because they are very corrupt.
And Mexico is NOT a third world country. In general, Third World countries are not as industrialized or technologically advanced as OECD countries, and therefore in academia, the current term in use is "developing nation".
Countries that have more advanced economies than developing nations but have not yet attained the level of those in the First World are grouped under the term Newly Industrialized Countries or NICs. These countries are: China, India, MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and the GCC states.

If you have ever been to Mexico, you would know its not great. If the illegals keep coming here at the rate they are coming, this will be Mexico in a few years. Go take a look at some of the states that have been over run with Mexicans. The areas they congregate in, looks just like they live in Mexico and its spreading more and more.
PS I have to say to "Capus 17" below me, if you love your country so much, why not stay there and try to bring change to it. Pass out birth control pills for a starter.

Its not a matter of them keeping them there if you wanted to leave the US and live somewhere else you would be going through the same type of thing that they do. If I did'nt think I'd
get deported I would move down to mexico just to get the jump on spring break every year "kidding" but no really look at how many people they deported last year it was alot. And yes most of them that leave are doing it because of the violence and corruption and of course there are the ones that come here
as distributors. But I know one thing the majority of them are
some of the hardest working people I ever met and when it comes to family values I hate to say it but they got us beat we
could actually stand to learn a few things in that department
from them. And as far as welfare and medical goes if its not being
abused then fine I know welfare really saved me when my girl freind left me with kid and they helped with daycare and medical
I could have probably got more but I didnt need it or want it there just to damm nosey but I would say 80% of welfare cases are
actually citizens they caught alot of people from Chicago that were collecting it in Minneapolis but still living in Chicago and these were all brothers from South that were getting huge bank
off that but the mexicans I stayed with when I was teen never
got welfare even when they were struggleing but at the same time
what was there's was mine and even in bad times we still had good times.

Obviously the Mexican people don't believe it is such a great place because many of them want to come here. Of course, their government puts ads on our media to visit their showplaces so dollars will flow into the economy. Get off the beaten path, and you probably will be...beaten, robbed or killed. How about the drug kings setting up bases right across our boarders? The Mexican government has absolutely no control there, and you certainly wouldn't want to visit the "unsanitized" portions of the country. Ever hear of the word propaganda?

the answer to that is kinda simple... here in America.... they can get free Social services!!! tax cuts and other free and other free Benefits that alot of us american's don't even know about. and they don't get any of that back in mexico... lets not forget when they come here there not uneducated like the ones that came here in the past. the know the rules and they know the laws.. they even know where to go for help!! plus, a job that is considered to be low paying to someone who has been living here for years... they except those jobs. and i might add work very hard to keep them and do them.. "except the work that is given them with no questions." what american will do that?
and having said that.. who do you think our own american companies is gonna hire? it is something to be said about being humble. Coming from nothing... and going to a land that has everything.. any race or group that knows a country has alot of opportunities will take advantage of it and will tell others.. and i know that here in Amercia... we all know how to take advantage of alot of things!!! The mexicans are just doing the same thing and making who ever it is that is letting them in here rich and making some money for themselves as well!!

Because the average Mexican citizen makes only a couple of hundred dollars a year. Three months on the farm in southern California and 1000 dollars later, the prospect looks very good for them.

Who said Mexico is a great place. It's cities like Tiajuana and Mexicali are similar to third world countries. There's no other country in the world like America, and they are on the border of this great nation. That's a lot of temptation. It's hard to compete with capitalism.
