I was in that situation when I was 14 (he was 17). My dad didn't like his family so it didn't last very long but it could have. The law will be a big issue if her parents don't like you and you two are having sex. Not too big though because my brother was dating a 16 year old (he's 21), they had sex, her mom reported him and he only got probation.
If you have such strong feelings for her and YOU feel that it'll last then I wish you the best of luck.

Okay, please, do not take offense to this. After all, you did ask for honest opinions. So, here it goes. You said it yourself. 14 years old is still very young. It's hard for any relationship to last while someone is away at college, and the other one is in high school. You are soon to be graduating. Your life will be changing and your perspective on things will change dramatically. You will change more in the next 4 or 5 years than you have in your entire teen years. I remember how I was at 18, and now, I look at how I am now. It is so different that it almost is laughable.
I don't mean this to be mean at all. Please, do not take it like that. I'm 23, and I speak from some experience. When I was 14, I was dating a guy that was 17. And honestly, at 14, I didn't know what a serious relationship was at all. She may be mature, but if you are immature, her maturing cannot make up for your immaturity. You still have to be responsible for YOUR actions and YOUR life. She cannot make up where you lack in your maturity level. If she is mature enough to act 16 and you are immature enough to act 16, it doesn't mean that you suddenly match in the age level.
And, yes, I do think the law could be an issue. If her father isn't too happy, then I really would watch my back. Is this one worth having a police record for? Seriously. You may not think the 3 year difference is much, but your goals in life will change seriously after you graduate, and hers will pretty much be on the same level that they are now.
Honestly, I think you got the odds stacked against you. In all seriousness, I do not think it would last. I'm sorry. I know that may be hard to hear, but know this, I am not speaking to be mean. I don't even know you. I truly am simply being honest.

the law should only be an issue if you guys have sex while she is still under 16 i believe.
it is also my general belief (i've seen this happen to many many friends) that a lot of couples break up after one or both people go to college. college and high school are too different. some people have managed to make things work by keeping in touch and all that, so i would give it a try, but dont be surprised if it doesn't work out.

Well to be honest with you I can't get pass the fact that you could end up in jail. Although 3 year gap isn't bad it's against the law with her being young as she is. Just be careful you said her father is not really into you. He he ever wanted to he could call the police and hve you arrested due to the age difference.

sometimes these things last sometimes they don't; it depends on the two of you, and how much you are committed to each other, and how well you cope together through the changes that occur over time.
The law becomes an issue when there is a sexual relationship with a minor, DON'T let that be the case because the sexual offender registration WILL last...
a lifetime.
good luck!

it to break it to you but its a no win situation. all she has to do is get mad at you for some stupid little thing. you wouldnt believe what kind of stories those little girls can come up with in court. id say move on to older and better until shes 18. if you both still feel the same about each other then go with it.

In my opinion I don't think this will last. It's hard to date someone younger than you during high school. But you know, some things do pull threw. If you guys really have strong feeling for eachother, go for it. You both will end up giving some things up, but it won't matter if you guys love eachother.

omg! you must be immature "she's had her share of jerks in the past" she's 14 she doesn't even know what love is...she at the age where she just wants a boyfriend so she can say she has one. Grow up! she doesn't know it but she's not looking for anything serious right now and neither are you apparently or you wouldn't be with a 14 year old.

whether it lasts or not depends on not only ur willingness but also her choice. u think u have found ur ms. right, but her opinion may change when she grows and goes to college or further studies. same for u too.
so, i wud suggest that u dont hurry up on this or keep thinking abt this, just b good friends and enjoy each others company. dont think too deep and confuse urself.

i am a lawyer and that is definitly not going to work out..because legally if the father tells the police that you two are dating even if your not having sex, charges could still be filed.
