Responding to Halena above:
Are you saying that if your kids went to college and your husband divorced you, you would become clinically depressed and have no purpose in life? I understand your purpose right now, but it sounds like you need more than to simply be temporarily depended upon. Find some other purposes in life. Middle-to-late-age comes fast and kicks people in the teeth. Get ready.
As for the original question... I'd rather be wanted.

I hope this entertains you much. I personally prefer to be needed.Maybe its just cuz if I was only wanted, no one would really know who I really was and if they had me maybe I owuldnt be who they thought i was. If I was needed, then I would atleast feel like I had a pupose in someone elses life, and they would already know why they needed me.Being wanted is only for a short time. Needed is more comforting. Blah, blah, blah. So there.

I don't think anybody is truly needed, for they only need themselves in the long run.To be wanted is awesome because you can feel a sense of closeness coming from the person in want.So to answer your question indeed,I would rather be wanted than needed for all applicable reasons involved...Tom Science 4

without the cause of being needed there would be no life for me, as i am needed daily by my kids and my husband. i love the fact that i am needed, makes me feel like i have a purpose in this world. if i was not needed for anything in a day i wouldnt even get out of bed, there would be nothing to do.

Thats a really great question. I'm not sure on my answer. I think we need to be needed and wanted. You feel good about yourself when you are needed, it gives you self worth and makes your life meaningful. At the same time it is great to be wanted. Its like they not only need you but they want you. It makes you feel loved and accepted. I think it raises one's self esteem to know they are wanted. Both are great. I think I would say both. Its much better to be wanted and needed rather than just wanted or just needed. :)

It is kinda hard but im gonna have to say wanted. Like for me needs are for something materialistic. I want my hubby, and I don't believe I would need him if for any reason we should part. Thats if were talking about relationships, because my children need me, but they also want me around 24/7, devastating? yes! But I do what I can.

Wanted. Policemen are needed, but not well liked, yet essential people for all of us. Most of don't want them in our lives, however.
To be wanted means you are special and, usually, liked.
That's the simple answer.

I would rather be wanted. I am already needed and I'm wore out from it and the responsability of it all. LOL

I prefer to be wanted. Being needed seems to put more pressure on any situation.
