even if the Bible were proven beyond any doubt to be historically accurate (from our point of view), why does that make it's claims about immaterial things real? In better words, isn't it entirely possible that some trickster god or spirit thought it would be funny to create humans and give them supernatural proof just to see what would happen? How do you KNOW that the divine word of God is really the god it claims to be and not some other thing with a weird sense of humor?

Looking at the bible beyond it's teachings is ignorant of it's purpose. The bible is giving examples to the ideas it expresses. The bible preaches love, respect, and general positive behavior. I think imagining this book as something invented by a couple of guys in a room who hoped for a better world is not shorting on the value of the book. Who ever made it, be a evil god or smart parrot with writing skills, it is not really that important. Don't take a burning bush literally. Take the burning bush for what the message that is trying to be taught to you. It should be very obvious that you should not steal from people because it is wrong. But, we still do it. So maybe someone long ago thought " these morons need to **realize** why it is wrong". The book is a life guide for most people who need a helping hand to get to the end in a positive light. If an infinite amount of people change their life to meet the positive outlook from a single book... then no matter who wrote the book ... they are a being above all in their own right.

What other thing that is not God is capable of being so accurate over thousands of years and various nations? How would it have origninally become so popular if there were not actual occurances that had people believing in a greater power? What being could be there and be a part of that part of the "joke" and yet be there thousands of years later to accurately record the history of the New Testament?

For me it is easy to accept the bible on faith. Everything I have read has never been proven in accurate, and I am willing to trust that it never will. We live in an age of science and doubt, yet for every answer that even begins to attempt to disprove God, there are more that prove His word true. And as a believer I have seen the difference God has made in my life. You can't pick and chose. In order for God to be all powerful, and Jesus to have really died for our sins and granted us entry to heaven, then the whole bible has to be correct. If we say it is corrupt then we have said God is not powerful enough to keep it true. And I have a real problem believeing a God who created everything, flooded the world, raised kings to the throne, destroyed entire cultures, one who has a plan and sees it being carried out is incapable od keeping the bible true. It minimizes Him.

You know, I am probably one of the very very few open minded Christians you will find and that comes from a lot of frustration with the Christian church. The Bible is not the divine word of God. it is flawed. It was written by man, and I'm not saying anything against the male population either. We all know that mankind if imperfect. Something made by and imperfect being would be imperfect. Not to mention the fact that over the centuries the Bible has been hacked to pieces by the Church so that all the less glorious stuff was thrown out. For example, the possibility that Jesus was married. He was a 30 year old Jew. More than likely, as per custom, he was married. Why, then, is that such a problem? Because the Catholic church would have to admit it was wrong and 2,000 years of belief is out the door. Your idea is possible, so is the idea that we are one big science experiment for aliens, or that the earth is being held up on Atlas' shoulders. It is quite possible. It is through faith that we believe. It is faith that gives us strength. I have faith that God is up there and Jesus is my homeboy. It is through faith that we live. Now granted, you won't see me dancing around with a rattlesnake claiming that it wouldn't bite me because my faith in God would protect me. I'm sorry, but I'm not about to tempt God.

LOL I love that, the Jews that killed Christ had just those thoughts. The devil slowly and surely led them to hell with sayings like there is no God or God will not mind a few small sins and If he is God let him heal himself and come off the cross, yet when he did they still did not except him as their Lord and savior.

open your heart first please & you will see God's grace.

Does God reveal Himself in many ways?

God is not confused and He will never confuse His own people. God will therefore, surely not reveal himself in different ways; as Jehovah, to Jews, Jesus to Christians, Allah to Muslims, Shiva to Saivaites, Bishu to Vaishnavites and over three hundred million gods and goddesses and god-men and god-women to the Hindus, thus confusing His people and putting them in conflict with each other.

God is love and righteousness. It would be incorrect to say that there is one God of love and another God of righteousness. It is the attributes of one and the same God which man has assigned to various deities.

Man, realizing his own sin, falls at the feet of God for forgiveness and redemption. The righteousness of God declares, "This man accepts that he is a sinner. He must pay the penalty". The love of God proclaims, "This man realizes that he is a sinner and has come for forgiveness. He must be shown mercy". Man stands before God, full of fear, wondering if God would punish him or forgive him. If God, in righteousness, punishes him, He would not be a loving God. If God, in love, ought to meet the demands of justice while at the same time shows mercy and love. So He reached down to man, took man's punishment upon Himself, thereby fulfilling the demands of righteousness, and thus is able to forgive man, expressing His love. "God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself".
(I Corinthians. 5:19).

"God so loved the world that He gave He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16).

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yea, the Lord shall give that which is Good" - (Psalms 85: 10-12).

God is not found in a book or in lectures or discourses. He is found whenever a sincere seeker opens the door of his or her heart by faith and with repentance, offers to Jesus Christ, a complete personal surrender. God will be found of such a person. 'When you seek and find God with all of your heart, I will be found by you declares the Lord'. *(Jeremiah 29:13-14)

God speaks HEART language & not the mind language...

Don't be too intelectual, you will end up battling against your own mind...

God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
It isn't in what I read it is in me keeping my heart pure and God has and does let me know that I know I have a relationship with him. That's all that matters to me,why change something that works. My life wasn't working and that's the truth, now it does, always, because no matter what situation I find myself in I allow God to be God(my heavenly Father that loves me) in my life.
