Yes, rifles and hand guns. Not a lot, just so you know the feel and etc. But I don't think they really expect you to put that experience to use since it is against the Geneva Convention one hundred percent. But the given situation might make it necessary, if an enemy combatant is attacking your wounded patients, as a doctor that might pull a few strings.

Yes, they are trained to use a weapon and their mission is to save the patient friendly or enemy. The same goes for the medics. Yes the Geneva Convention falls into play for attacking but not fot them to defend the lives of their patients.

Anyone who joins US military service is trained to use the standard issue rifle. However officers in non combat positions normally carry a sidearm. They are still required to qualify with it at least once a year.

according to the Geneva Convention, Doctors and Medics are considered to be noncombatants. Officially they can't carry more than their pistols, but in some situations they carry the same weapons as every other soldier.

Absolutely. One of my close friends is an Army doctor currently stationed in Iraq. He sent us pictures recently of him on the firing rage shooting an automatic rifle. Pretty funny actually..........this puny little Jewish guy with a potbelly shooting this gun that's almost as big as him.
