Depends on whether you are a girl or boy. If you are a girl, ask your parents to get you pashminas (they comes in all colours and designs), lovely silk garments, costume jewelleries, beaded evening handbags and imitation game boys *** games and dvd.
As for a boy, get imitation game boys, games, sneakers, radio controlled cars/planes/trucks (these are those really BIG ones) and watches.
Be careful of the quality though, some are very good but it depends on where your parents buys it. If you don't mind imitation goods, which China is famous for, then, go ahead and buy them. Some are really so good, you can't tell the real from the fake.

China has basically everything you would find over here, and often at lower prices. If you want something for your house, have them get you some Chinese place settings (chopsticks, placemats, etc). They are cheap and easy to pack. If you want something for yourself, they can look at getting some pretty cheap clothing (though they have to know there stuff when buying it--what looks like a Polo shirt isn't always one as there is a lot of pirated knockoffs of lower quality). If you are a smaller sized person, they might be able to find you some nice dress clothes that would fit better than most of the stuff in the USA.
One thing they should NOT buy is pirated DVDs. There is a penalty for bringing back illegal DVDs and if you get caught with them at the border, you will pay a very steep fine for each disc.

depends on where they go. Most anything you can get there you can get here, so I would concentrate on local artifacts like silk or trade items that are not imported. Silk is much cheaper there, but even so, you have to know quality.I brought back a hammock made from shoe strings. It sounds corny, but I got it from a monk, and it was something I could never buy in the US. In Guang zho, it is the capitol of counterfeit. counterfeits are manufactured there. They do have Jade markets, and jewelry markets, but again, you really have to know what you are doing to get the best quality.

If I were you, I would just beg them to take you along with them...
I just came back from China 2 days ago, the souvenirs I always bring back for my kids range from the usual assortment of stylish clothes and shoes, sweet treats mostly of dried and candied fruits and berries, silk qipaos for the girls, ink and calligraphy stuff for one of my artsy son, chopstick and tea sets and little handmade dolls for my friends, the choice is almost endless.

there's a million things that they could buy, i just bought my mom some jade earrings, my daughter a coat, my son a leather jacket, all of these items are much below the cost of what you can buy in the u.s. electronic items are the same cost and besides if you need it fixed, you're better off buying them at home. i like t-shirts myself, and traditional chinese clothing. i've been here 4 times and have seen many things.

How about your own sweatshop? Your parents can probably purchase a dozen 8-year-olds with small, but nimble fingers. You can lock them in your basement, where they can make personalized sneakers and sweater vests for you.
