For a couple of days now I have noticed that my dog goes into little head shaking fits from side to side. Nothing like when he comes out of the water, it looks like he has palsy or something. I know he is allergic to a lot of things, but he has never done this. Anyone have any suggestions? Vet is getting called tomorrow.

It sounds like your dog is having seizures. How old is he? Older dogs can get syndromes, like my 12 year old whippet, easily. My dog at first had her eyebrows twitching, shaking her head as if to get rid of a bothersome fly. Her head began shaking wildly from side to side. Then her whole body began shaking, and the next thing she had fallen of her couch, trembling and then shaking madly, going everywhere.

It's sounds like you dog is shaking her head as Charlotte was. It could just be fits or seizures, but it also could be something more serious. My dog had it happen a couple of times, and then she was very unwell, we eventually took her to the vets where they did the best they could, but even months later, now, she can't keep herself balanced and her head is tilted to the side because of the syndrome she has that older dogs get.

You definately should take him to the vet as soon as possible. It probably isn't anything serious, but even the slight chance of it... Get the vet to see him ASAP.

Good make sure you call the vet tomorrow, I would be worried he is having some small focal seizures. I have had 2 epileptics and one of them just had head shakes off and on and they eventually progressed to full on gran mal seizures. Is the dog releasing any urine during these episodes? Any salivating or going stiff? Tongue turning purple? If not, hopefully maybe it's not seizures and something as simple as a flea crawled into his ear or something silly like that, check that possibility out, and if no flea, definitely go to vet.

If you put any flea & tick stuff on him like you would on the back of his neck you need to watch him if he starts gettin clumsy or his head starts twitching more he might b allergic to it all you have to do is wash where you put it with soap & water then wrap him up to keep him warm even though he might not like it. My cat did the same thing til he laid down once & started having a seizure. I ran over to him in the floor put a blanket on him & held his head so it didn't pull his head back far enough to hurt him after he stopped i looked online & they said to wash it off with soap & water & he should b fine & he was.
