In the professional field I would say the most available jobs in Hawaii are for civil engineers, dentists and dental hygienists, doctors and nurses, geriatric care specialists and teachers.

Civil service jobs such as police, fire, and public works are also available. Be aware that getting a government job in Hawaii can take a long time and they may require you to be a resident of the state before you can even apply.

Good luck

Hospitals & the Airport. I am a Registered Nurse & I just recently got a new job at a hospital. It's steady, the Medical Field is one of the best jobs all over the world regardless where your at. The Airport you will benefit from as well because of the flight benefits. You should know that Hawaii's pay rate is so low it's embarassing. I come from California & when I first moved here, I learned that the pay rate is too low. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore because I'm only in Hawaii temporarily, I'll be going back to California soon, I can't wait to get my old salary back. They have much better paying jobs & opportunities in the Mainland.

Years ago, my brother went to Hawaii to work at a pineapple plantation for the summer. It was very easy to get into. The plantation paid for most things, including room and board. They even paid for a vacation cruise of the islands at the end of the summer. However, it was very grueling work. He said he would never do it again.
I have been told that programs of this sort still exist.
