It's been said that when we "remember a past life" we aren't remembering a past life, but the things that all our ancestors have ever done. We only use 10% of our brain, and the rest holds all the knowledge of humans since the beginning of our existence on earth. We only use what we need. (Again, it's just a theory.)

Besides, if there really were past lives, you have to wonder why so many people end up being Mary Antoinette or Napoleon. No one is ever some peasant who died working or anything like that.

There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

There are more people in the world that believe in reincarnation than not. There are many documented cases but of course if you did not experience it did not exist.

Actually past lives does a very good job of explaining why some people come into this world with extraordinary gifts.

Recycled souls...now that is an interesting concept. I am aware that several faiths believe in reincarnaton and that they believe the same soul remains and that people will just keep coming back and coming back as someone else of course. Although I am a Christian, I do not believe that the idea is inconceivable. We don't know how God does things. To my knowlege, the Bible does not speak of it.

I do not rule out the possibility, but I personally have no knowledge of any past life if I have had one, and I find it irrelevent anyways. If someone could explain to me the signifigance of remembering our past lives I would gladly receive the enlightenment.

The most powerful opiate of them all. Your lot will improve in the next life and your life is bad because you messed up in the last life. If you are rich as sin it is because you are a good guy so don't apologize for screwing the peasants. So they have managed to get you to blame your self for your condition and promise to improve it after you are dead.

No, but I believe God knew all before the foundation of the earth, and that was when he chose who would not perish in Hell, but be spared by His grace.
