If you don't know very well how to care for one, you shouldn't have one. They can be dangerous.

fistly keep in mind that you have a very special dog.

Huskys are very independent meaning that they are not needy but seek the company and the attention (like wolves). They are very prey driven so be vary cautious with cats, birds, etc....

In terms of food you will have a hard time as Huskys often get bored of what they eat (especially when tehy are young) and can stop eating, sometimes, even for 6 days. In case this happens do not worry (unless you see the dog is in no mood for playing or looks in distress). Insist on giving him the same food as they tend to take advantage of our weaknesses or worries. Bear in mind that Huskys are supposed to live in very cold climates and under circumstances in which food is not always an option. Having said that, bear in mind that if your dog hasn't eaten for days and is moody there is probably something wrong.

Huskys dig, hunt, and have unbelievably strong feet. So be vigilant when he is free in a park or something.

Thay can't take heat AT ALL. So be very careful with that.

Clean water is always needed. Make sure he/she is fully vaccinated and parasite (internal & external) free.

Huskys are very energetic and need long walks and active playing.

Huskys end to want to stray, especially while they are young, so make sure he's in a securely kept.

Finally, to all those who say you shouldn't have a dog if you got to ask such questions.... Please, we all didn't know at first. You ask, you learn and experience accumulates...

huskies are very independant, but at the same time are very loyal, they love to run and need to be walked everyday, unless you own acreage. they backyard needs to be well confined as they are great escape artists. they coat should be brushed once a week, a bone week would be a great idea also to keep them amussed and clean their teeth. in regards to what that idot said about them being dangerous, completely wrong huskies are very loving dogs and are great with other dogs and small children i have a 2 month old daughter and my huskies just adore her.alot of challanging toys is also a good idea, again to keep them ammused, if you like your garden perhaps a husky wasn't the best choice of dog for you, because huskies love to dig and dig and dig. huskies are also a pack dog so another dog or close compainionship with you and your family will never go astray, i hope this has been of help to you.
good luck with everything :)

Huskies need companionship, and things to keep them distracted.
They are known for running, digging, and howling.

If ouside, make sure your yard is completely fenced at 6 foot+
Make sure that the husky can't get out by digging under the fence either. If they are left to there own devices without things to keep them occupied they are escape artists. Do not ever let a husky out without a leash - I have heard of husky owners saying they were able to train their husky to walk beside them without a leash - but I don't believe it. Too many husky trainers have told me that they have never been able to train a husky to not take-off when not attached to a leash - they are bred to run - and run they do.

When inside, keep chew toys and bones around to keep them occupied. If you don't give them something to play with - they will find something.

Huskies don't need as much food as other med/large breeds - they are bred for pulling and traveling light so they won't eat as much as you think - do not be surprised.

Twice a year a husky "blows its coat" - and it is as dramatic as the phrase sounds. They blow a summer coat and a winter coat - it can change when it occurs, but you will notice the hair starting to 'rise' in clumps about a week after a noticable shift in temperature. My recommendation is to brush weekly and when you get to the "blowing the coat" weeks - brush daily until the shedding coat is gone.

For other details (I don't want to make this too long) do an internet search - there are allot of great site about Huskies.

First you MUST exercise it daily. Huskys are designed to run for miles and will dig your yard up to find an open space to stretch their legs.
Next, huskys feel 20 degrees warmer than you do. 80 degrees F is uncomfortable even in the shade. Fresh water daily, don't allow it to go stale.
A wolf hybrid will only make them a little skinnier, but they will retain the husky's traits.

If you need to ask Yahoo users how to care for it, you probly shouldn't have it in the first place.

Not that Yahoo users don't have good advice, but you get my point...
