Man, that's a long question.
1. Yes, although it's better than what used to be used, which were charts the insurance companies came up with. The problem with BMI charts is that they don't take into account fat versus muscle. According to the BMI charts, Brad Pitt is overweight.
2. Dieting isn't right or wrong, but studies have shown that most people, by far, who diet and lose weight gain the weight back and then some. So it's not "wrong," but it's often counterproductive.
3. Beats me. I've heard that just walking 30 minutes a day is good enough, but that doesn't do much for building muscle, which is important.
4. Isn't it odd how, the more we obsess about calorie counting, the bigger we (as a society) get? Personally, I think we all should forget about counting calories and focus on eating the most nutritious foods we can find--however much we want of them.
5. I never diet anymore. When I was younger I occasionally did, but the two times in my life I lost a serious amount of weight were when I wasn't dieting at all, just really stressed out.
6. Tough call. I'd say it should be the public's business if the public is consistent in its belief that being overweight is bad. It's not consistent to put down fat people but let MacDonald's exist.
7. Get rid of the fast-food places. Stop all the junk food commercials. Quit with the obsessing about weight. Focus on health.
8. They work in the short run. In the long run, they don't, because you either turn into a jittering junkie or you go off them and gain all the weight back.
9. Fad diets work in the short run, but not in the long run. If you need to lose 10 pounds to fit into your wedding dress or get a role in Dreamgirls, great. But it isn't going to last.
10. No, they should not emotionally punish themselves. The problem is that weight has become a moral, almost religious, issue in this society, and that's just crazy.
11. I think that diet programs should not be covered by insurance, but I also think that Viagra should not be covered by insurance.
12. The best diet is one that focuses on super nutritious foods, not on calorie counting or even on losing weight.

1. No, because as far as I'm aware of, most people don't know about the BMI chart. It is great for standard and moderate use, but the only flaw it has it how it doesn't compute body fat or muscle, so it has room for error. It is good to use to keep yourself in general check, though.
2. Dieting is not wrong if it is done the right way. It is important to not overexert your body or undereat. The best diet would be to just exclude most processed foods and replace those with fruits and vegetables, which most adolescents don't seem to consume. I've only done the aforementioned; I have not done any other diet than maybe the low-cal one.
3. Depending on how experienced they are, it could range from an hour to three. For beginners, it'd simply be 30 minutes, which is the daliy recommended.
4. Yes and no. If you watch how many calories you consume, you usually eliminate most unhealthy foods in the process, as you gain a realization as to which is high in calorie and low in calorie. No, as in some people go as far as to limit themselves to a daily caloric intake of less than 1200, which is a huge deficiency in energy.
5. I've changed my diet at least three times in my lifetime. I don't diet, really. I just stick to a new lifestyle of eating.
6. Yes in that to my famliy, they should know and support me so I don't make the wrong choices, like picking up a candy bar.
7. More people should be aware of the fact that teating a whole lot less or more messes up your body, giving it too little or too much too quickly. They should be aware of what's in snacks, and how a little more other foods can help your health in the long run. Nothing is ever a quick fix.
8. I do not know, as I've never used them, and I never will. I'm not sure what's in them, but I know there's something in them that makes them addicting. Diet pills can be hazardous and break down your body..
9. Yes, no questions asked. It is deliberately depriving your body of what it needs to properly function.
10. No, they should do it all in moderation and keep themselves in check by reminding themselves that this is for the better. They should remember what's right for their body.
11. No.
12. The best diet revolves around what you do every day, and what you need to consume nutrition and energy wise. Simply eating grapefruits or drinking green tea doesn't cut it. If you're going to diet, at least remember to give your body what it needs to continue functioning.

At any given moment, most Americans are on a diet. America is the fattest society to ever exist. Diets do not work. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad fats, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculator to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age).
