I know this is a joke, but you have captured the mind set of fundie christians. They do perceive that if they do not get their way on very thing, they are being persecuted...the mentality of a child. It is also the mindset of a sheep. One who cannot understand anything other than their narrowly define dogma, and follows blindly any fool who spouts the same drivel they believe.

Hon, they aren't persecuting us by not attending Church. That's their choice and only their choice. Satanically inspired, yes, but still their choice. I'm a Christian and I definitely am not going to force anybody to go to Church if they don't want to. Christians will continue to be persecuted until the Lord comes, but it won't be like this. It will be extreme and severe and even fatal. I think you need to reread your Bible especially Revelation where prophecies are listed and explained.

I thought it was the other way around..

Aren't the christians persecuting Atheists by going to church?

Ohh.. Even better still, aren't the pastafarians persecuting those who believe in the invisible pink unicorn by believing in something that bears a close resmblance to the Purple Oyster? (You got to admit, you color him purple and the FSM looks a lot like the Purple oyster.. Just throwing that out there..)

By not going to church persecutes no one. Going to church for anyone is sharing fellowship with others of the same faith and the preacher feeds the congregation spiritual food.
