Christian Fundamentalism

Examining religion's affect on the political administration of the state, it can be seen that underlying all is a Christian fundamentalism, driven variously by Baptist, Methodist and charismatic movements originating in the well-known Southern evangelicalism that has so influenced George W. Bush and Condoleezza Rice. This is why so many political statements seem more akin to sermons, abounding in the Manichaean rhetoric of "good" vs. "evil" and the "crusades" for liberty, Western-style democracy and a laissez-faire economy, with the typical hyperbolic benediction: "God bless America!"

It's not the only thing, but it's part. I studied religion for many years in college, and there is a movement in Fundamentalist Christianity (though it may not include all Fundamentalist Christians) to "quicken" the coming of Armageddon. There are churches which DO collect money and send it to Israel for the construction of a new temple, the result of which would be World War III (this was on 60 Minutes I think).

The whole "God Bless America" crap that has started to be spread in churches in now backfiring (thank God!); many Fundamentalist ministers are condemning the association of the Religious Right and the Republican Party and/or the Religious Right's involvement in politics (which they describe as making God's word "worldly").

I agree with these ministers. I would think if God's kingdom is not of this world, then tying church and state together would be an abomination.

I don't think it's just evangelicals driving all the b.s. that is going on between the religions or worlds. I think it's a combination of many different things & groups of people. I think we tend to want people to be what "our view" of a good person is, or what a law abiding person is. If one does not fall in line with that view then we try to make them fall in line by criticizing their beliefs & laws. Maybe if we stepped back & let people live their lives & respect their right to their beliefs, much of the garbage would stop. I do not agree with every principle of Islam. But I do respect that person's right to his or her belief, however wrong I think it is. I expect one who is Muslim to respect that right in me as well.

Perhaps we should try to learn about each other instead of trying to change each other. Maybe democracy works here in the U.S. but it may not in other countries. We must stop believing we are better than everyone else & that the world cannot function without us.

We need to stop the thinking & start caring.

I kinda trust you my difficulty with him is that with all politicians he's enjoying to the middle in the election 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. all of them do it so because it incredibly is no longer something against him it incredibly is basically the way it works. the reason i'm no longer able to vote for him is by way of the fact I see him as to lots of a Liberal and that i've got faith he would not have adequate adventure and regrettably is basically yet another flesh presser. If he replaced right into a many times happening guy working like from the middle type without real political history then i'd vote for him. the unhappy difficulty is he's basically yet another flesh presser. observe who he picked as his vice chairman candidate, I propose it incredibly is approximately so some distance as from "reform" as you could desire to get except he picked Ted Kennedy. I do like Kennedy on his concepts etc whilst it comprises history in spite of the undeniable fact that. I propose he's massive on coaching our childrens approximately U.S. history which nicely, they actually choose so lots extra of. yet besides it incredibly is why i will no longer be able to vote for Obama. remember i'm asserting this as an American who's can no longer detect a activity because of the economic equipment. the situation is this would bypass like issues like this constantly do and particular I voted for Bush two times. looking decrease back nicely I nonetheless think of I picked the lesser of two evils yet Bush is a lot, some distance, OH so very some distance from something great or maybe a conservative for that count.

Bad idea. Most Muslims are good people, quite disgusted at the actions of a pathological few.
