i want to invite my frined to the usahow do i go about doing that?

You are certainly welcome to write a letter of invitation to your friend. Your friend may then include your letter of invitation with his/her non immigrant visa application. However, it is still up to your friend to qualify for the visa on his/her own merits, and to overcome the presumption of being an intending immigrant.

You just invite them with a formal letter.. it is up to them to apply for a visitor's visa.
