Which accent besides London are you asking about? It shouldn't matter if that's you. You shouldn't try to be something you're not.

I think one's own accent is most attractive for any person.
faking an accent and getting caught .. just doesn't work out well. I hate it when people or actors try an accent and get it wrong and/or do it badly.
I understand that with much coaching the rough edges can be ground off .. but to a certain extent .. why bother.
London is cool.

re: movies.
In "the lake house" .. they get it right .. Northern American accent circa Chicago casted well and photographed well.
In "the education of little tree" most of the accents are authentic .. but placed wrong. Little tree is the only one with an authentic east Appalachian accent, but his parents have a west Appalachian accent - very different, and wrong where they are supposed to have grown up and lived. other's have fake accents..
In "cold mountain" - set in Appalachia .. Nicole Kidman's fake accent is well just bad. Good acting, bad accent.

is a London accent different than a British accent?? i think British accents and Australian accents are cool for a little while but after a while they get old

I was born there but lost mine due to being raised in California. I like men with deepish voices or Mexican accents that have been slightly Americanized.
