I myself have anxiety attacks and the fact is your body produces adreniline at an inappropriate and unneccessary time. That is what an anxiety attack is. Some respond by getting aggressive, others by becoming fearful. If you need to fly and you are that fearful, you should ask the doctor about Lorazapam or Clonazapam both of which can prevent and even stop anxiety attacks. Take one just before you get on the plane and you will be very mellow and maybe even take a short nap. Just get a script for five or six pills, and take one before each flight (not too long before the flight, they will make you a bit sleepy and give you difficulty in concentrating). Also after the immediate issue is past you should see a councilor about overcoming this fear for good. Meds are a temporary/partial fix for most any mental problem, the root must be addressed.

HI danielle,
Welcome to the club!! Just so you know, you will be a much stronger person in the future when you go through life with anxiety disorder. Its important for you to understand that there will be many many more times that you will have to deal with impending anxiety and panic attacks. You will always be affraid of the next attack as does EVERYONE with this disorder including me. The great news is there are some meds that can completely help you during these extremly stressfull times. Xanax and Klonopin just to name 2 have had some great success in these times. In fact some people use these meds and some dont. Its up to you and your Doc to work that out. Try what works for you as an individual. I promise there are some things you can do now to turn your whole life around for the better. And for one now take some deep breaths and ask yourself "whats the worse that can happen?" God Bless you sweety!
p.s. Prayer has helped me so much!!

That was a tendency that happended to me. It was not cool, and I had a friend there to comfort me. I will tell you, once you have them, you will always have them. Something recent has changed in your life that is causing this disruption, adding to the stress you were already feeling.
It can cause many changes in the way you look at things. Just try to stop them before they get fully built. If you have an inhaler, take it, talk to yourself, and tell yourself it will be OK. Not kidding, focus on the positive. It is the only way that I got through mine, and I was looking at passing a certified nursing test. This may sound corny, but you are strong and invisibilble. Believe in yourself. Even if you are a woman or a man, you got the 'knads' to kick it in the fanny. Now, only when I can't take anymore do I have them, but I don't have to go to the hospital. And, I don't have to take treatment from my nebulizer. Believe. Just try to put yourself in a better place. I personally go to the beach on Hawaii, and make a mental visual, although I have never been there. You got it going on! Use it! I got the faith, get it goin' on'. Know what I mean?

First off why didn't your Dr prescribe you something for it?
I understand what you are going through as I go through the same thing. At times I can talk myself down from the attacks if I know it is coming on.

You might try this take deep slow breaths and think of something wonderful (your happy place)

Also find someone to talk to sometimes just talking about it helps a great deal.

Good luck

I deal with panic attacks, but I have never thrown up over one! It is a bad deal. Sometimes one just hits me and I don't know why! You can't keep stressing over the next attack, you are making it worse on yourself that way. My doctor gave me a "chill pill". You need to try to thing of a relaxing moment and breath! Thing of your favorite place. The beach with your toes in the sand or whatever is relaxing to you. Imagine yourself some where other than where you are to relax yourself and get thru the situation. Best of luck to you!

first of all, get a hold of yourself. you need to learn some relaxation techniques. maybe a couple different ones. they are easy to do, basically just breathing and focusing on other things. if thats not something that interests you, then your doctor should have given you a script for cymbalta or some other med for your condition. i, myself chose to use the relaxation instead of meds. its better for ya. give it a try, you will see, just calm down and try some techniques. youre gonna be fine. i am!
