as a civilian, it IS Possible to do your residency in a Military hospital. Heck, when Ilived in Japan, many of the residents were Japanese Nationals. But it is not a military thing, per se. the hospital has to hire you, not the military. yes, it's a fine line..But the hospitals do have a fair number fo civilian personnel working there.

Howver, you must have already completed your residency to be considered for Commissioning as an Officer in the military.

I'm going in as a Medical Doctor, the Air Force wants me to do my residency before working in the military hospitals, they want the experienced doctors.

I know that my Orthopedic surgeon (he is in the navy) When he was done at the military hospital he was opening a private office in town. Don't know if this helps.

If the military decides that they want you badly enough, yes, you can. I know because I knew doctors in the military who did just that.

i believe you can my cousin did but he said he had a lot of documentation he haad to have from the military
