try either physical therapy or chriorpracter (spelling? the back doctor). I had migranes related to stress and tension and by making my neck muscles less tense, it helped. Also, I get 4 types of headaches: eye headaches (fixed by getting new glasses), tension headaches (ibuprofin and therapy), hormone headaches (just live will till PMS is done), and hight blood pressure headache (now taking pills to control it). so, maybe get your health checked out, not just your head.

forget the ERs for the time and visit your family doctor. you will need blood tests, a CT scan, and/or a MRI to rule out any disease which may cause the migraines.
after that, it will be trial and error as you find out which migraine meds work best for you. ask for a referral to a neurologist that specializes in migraines. the process may take a while, but it will be well worth it.
keep a migraine diary for a month. note the meals you eat each day, things you do, and any stressors you encounter. note if you had a migraine, symptoms accompanying it, and anything that may have relieved the pain. while time consuming, the diary will be a valuable piece of info for your and your doctor.

One of the newest things that is out there and is very sucessful on SOME PATIENTS is to use a "cold helmet"

What that is a helmet that is frozen in your home refrigerator and is put on the head. The headache disappears in a minute or two using this device.

I have a relative lady who took on average 5 bottles of Excederen migrane a week and Imitrex at least 10 times a month and got off of those drugs with this device. The cost is about $75 and a available on the net or in hospital supply houses.

There are several recent articles on this device. It seems to give 100% relief to many people, but none to otheres. Good luck too you in your search. I know how bad these things can be.

I'm not sure if this would help with migraines but I get pretty bad headaches and found online that a good way to get rid of them is drink 2 glasses of gatorade. I know it sounds funny but I think it's the electrolytes or something and it does work! I know you must hate taking all those medications ...I know I do. That's why I was reasearching on alternative ways to get rid of them. It's worth a try! I'm sorry I couldn't help you more. Good luck!

See a chiropractor and massage therapist.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

If you want to prevent further migraine, you should go for a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax - it's simply amazing, but not available anywhere in the world yet.

The costs are approx. USD 200 - good luck!

i feel your pain...the same thing happened to me...i had a migraine for three weeks as well...i took every medication you listed and went thru the same procedures....only for them to come back negative...what they didn't tell me was that by taking those medications back to back like that was actually causing my headache to get worse...it was a compound headache which mimics the symptoms of a migraine...try cutting back on the amount of medication u take and take them less frequently...also try being in a silent, dark room as i know u r probably sound and light sensitive...wat works for me is when i see those auras (those blue or white bursts of light) i take something to prevent or lessen the damage...i hope this helps...if not then ask your doctor to refer you to a neurologist so that you can get a second opinion. another thing you may wanna check is your eyes, as this can lead to migraines since you may be straining them... gud luck!!

this situation sounds exactly like my ex father-in-law's ordeal

he was having the same problem-consistant migraines that would last for weeks at a time and NOTHING worked!! he saw several specialist for headaches and had every test under the sun. he was so tired of pain pills and being bounced around that he too was ready to die.

he started taking the only medication that seemed to help (called clorazepate-an anxiety medication but he said it got rid of the headache) and went to see an allergy-sinus doctor. ask your dr about that medication.

turned out he had calcified infection ( congestion and bacteria that had become infected and hardened like stone in his sinuses) that was trapped and was causing reoccuring headaches b/c it wasn't treated.

he had surgery to drill out the calcified infection and clear out his sinuses and the headaches totally disappeared-no more pain and no more meds!!

i'm not saying that this is definitely what you have but you should have it checked out. like my father in law-the doctor's kept thinking it was a brain issue when it was more facial.

i hope you feel better soon!!

The only painmedication that has ever worked for me is Ibuprofen. This of course is the 800mg. which you have to have a doctor prescribe. What I do with out taking medication is go into my room shut the lights off turn the T.V. down close my eyes and clear my mind of every thing that has been going on.
