The day before your 1st anniversary, begin defrosting the top tier of your wedding cake in your refrigerator. Then on the next day, take the cake out of the refrigerator so it can rest at room temperature (at least 2 hours before you plan to eat it). Then take your wife to the restaurant where you had your first dinner date or recreate your meal from your reception at home. When you return home or after your in home dinner, show your sentimental side be taking out your wedding video and/or wedding album to reminisce about your wedding day. Then to top the night off, cut the top tier from your wedding cake (if you don't have a top tier of your cake, you can always get a nice small cake from the local grocery store and use that instead) and pop a bottle of champagne (or sparking juice) and toast to many more years of marriage to come. After toasting, play the song from your first dance and have an anniversary dance with your wife. Then you can retire for the evening by having a romantic bubble bath together with candles and flower petals or line a pathway to your bedroom with candles and petals. And don't forget to get your wife a beautiful 1st anniversary card (paper is the symbol for the first anniversary).

Cook her dinner. A romantic dinner at home is always appriciated and there are so many cheap yummy things to make. Or if it's nice weather in your area you could take her to a park or garden for a picnic. Maybe take her somewhere that has some special memories for you both..a certain lake or a cafe that means something to you both. Taking her out can be fun and can be cheap if you plan it out right, look for coupons and specials.
I guess if you wanted to buy her something go with something that really suits her, instead of the things most guys buy their wives (jewelry, perfume, flowers etc). But I can't really give you many ideas for material things since I don't know her tastes.
You could always give her something home made too, like a nice card with a poem you wrote or a scrapbook of wedding photos. That can be economical and home made gifts are really special.
Have a happy anniversary!

Go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find some romantic poetry. Then print it out on an 8x10 sheet of paper, add some artwork (like a flowery border, whatever you can think of, or do one up on your computer). I still would set the poem to paper in your own handwriting as opposed to computer printing: it's more personal. Then get a frame from the dollar store and put your complete poem in it. Your creative touch will definitely affect her. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY & many more!

I agree with everyone else make her a candle lit supper with one rose in a vase for the first year or maybe the same kind of flower you used in the wedding or color? If you remeber your first dance song download it and play that and other special songs in the background for music If you video taped your wedding maybe after supper you could watch that get a bottle of cheap wine or make her favorite drink or just stick to your fav beer give her a back rub and go from there!! Hee Hee She will love anything you do as long as it's from you and your heart!!
Congrats and here's to many many more!!

well. for the last gift giving occasion, I made my fiance these coupons. One for a free back massage, free favorite dinner with all the extras, free case of beer, etc. Just little stuff like that. He loved it. If she's your wife, then she knows that you don't have the money to buy something expensive and she won't expect it. So write her something mushy like a poem. Girls eat up the romantic stuff. Also if you are going to write about her, be specific. We like to know that you notice all the little details we work so hard on. Or instead of taking her out, cook her dinner and set the table with candlelight. We cherish the sentinmental moments more than material goods.

Surprise her with a homemade candle light dinner. You could also go to a florist and get some rose petals to scatter around the bedroom, and light some candles too. Make it about romance not $$$$.

Re-create one of your first dates together. Visit the restaurant, watch the movie (DVD) or do something you enjoyed doing together earlier in your relationship. We love the fact that men actually remember that sort of stuff.
