I'm 5'10" 173 lbs. I'm pretty small even tho some charts say i'm over weight. I want to start lifting and get the best of all three ( stronger, bigger, defined). I don't have any experience in lifting. I'm not going for the gross body builder look. I want a six-pack of course. I want all the advice, articles, and storys I can get. How many days should I work out a week? Should i do Medium weight medium reps or High weight low reps? Or any other advice you can give me. thanks

I live in a small town so the gym doesn't really have trainers. They just sort of run the gym.

Mens health is a great magazine for a balanced and strong physique. good old basic stuff works and defines your upper body- pushups, pullups and ab conditioning. check out a spin class or get on a mountain bike and cycle for real- the resistance is great for building your legs either way. start with twice to 3 times a week with medium weights to nail proper form and get yourself acclimated to the movements. 2 to 3 sets of a solid 8 to 12 is a good starting goal. Form follows function so really focus on good and safe form with all of your movements.now get goin'!

Run alot..high rep low weight will tone you up, and burn more fat. But running will get those calories burned off..watch your eating. Count your calories and make sure your a good bit tired after your workouts for atleast a week or so.

Go to a gym, and talk to a trainer. They can customize a workout for you.
