They could very easily be related.

May be they are far related. Why? Because the last name Lucchesi it's an Italian last name meaning 'coming from Lucca'.
Lucca it's a small and ancient city of Toscana region. Firenze (Florence) it's chief city of that region. Being a small city, there's a little possibility that once they were related.
Lucchesi it's a plural male form of 'Lucchese'. Lucchesi we pronounce: 'Look-kèh-see' -eh like in men, s like in zoom- Ciao.
PS - Here in Italy there are many last names deriving from Lucca: Lucchi, Lucchini, Lucchetti and so on. (and Lucca yet)

there is a VERY small chance they are somehow related. the fact that they've never met or known about each other makes this the more likely thing. just because a last name isn't common in one place doesn't mean thats how it is everywhere, such as its place of origin.

last names come from genealogy, place of origin, trade, or there was one other main thing but i forgot. obviously, they vary from country to country.

You need to find out who there fathers are. That could be very interesting.
