Is it bad to drink to not feel the emotions your feeling so you go to sleep easier without having to cry yourself to sleep!?

sometimes it depend on individual.. your mood, your level of drinking, how much u could hold your alcohol.. many factors you should consider..

i used to work in a pub many years back, i could hold my alcohol well but theres something funny about and i realised it does the same effect to many people around me i know..

first.. u start off drinking very well, then when u starts feeling 'drifting' u felt u are the happiest person on earth, happily laughing away. slowly for the next few weeks when u start to become a hardcore drinker u will react very emotional when u drink too much, this is the second stage. For third stage, thats when u drink, feeling high.. and starts throwing temper around, getting v sensitive with people's comment and sometimes even get involved in fight.

So its better to control first knowing your alcohol limit first. I hope my experience helped here.

Drinking to not feel is always a bad sign. You may be drinking because you feel like you are the only person in the world feeling the way you feel. Truth is, there are a lot of people feeling the same way you do. AA is a great place to meet friendly people who may understand what you are feeling and have some insight into whatever is driving you to drink. You don't have to necessarily be an alcoholic to attend a meeting you just have to have a desire to not drink. You can find the number to an AA meeting in the yellow pages under AA. And remember drinking doesn't make anything dissappear it only adds to the problem.

Yes! If you are not drinking alcohol for a social reason. If you drink or do anything on a consistent basis for any reason you probably have a problem with the substance you are using. It could be food, exercise,drugs,alcohol,sex anything you use to cover up a feeling or emotion is most liking a problem. Also alcohol is addictive so the more you use it for whatever reason the odds of you being addicted increases.

ummm wow, if you are being serious, this really isn't the place to ask that question. No, I would not say you are an alcoholic yet, but if you are only finding answers to your life at the bottom of the bottle and not anywhere else, then YES seek medical assitance.

However if you are actually crying yourself to sleep over some small problem, and you know you will be over it soon, alcohol is a great help for getting over things (albeit slower than normal).

If you feel that you have a drinking problem check out an AA meeting in your area. Drinking to deaden emotions is not a good thing. If you are powerless over the situation and still have to drink seek some professional help. Alcohol may be just a symptom of the problem.

Yes, when you become sober you still have the emotions waiting to be dealth with. Deal with them now, then have a drink to celebrate getting over the pain...then don't drink again until another special occasion. Never use drugs or alcohol to deal with pain....it only numbs your emotions but doesn't address the problem causing them.

Occasionally try running, bicycling or lifting weights - till it hurts- instead of drinking.

You will get relief from the emotional pain, and be healthier to boot.

If you can do this 50% of the time, you will be much better, and probably not an alcoholic.

If not, you have a problem.

Yes, this is called dependency... at least that is what a counselor will call it. You need to deal with your problem and get over it. Yes, I realize that its easy for me to say that without knowing what the issue is, but I think that is your best course of action. Drinking yourself to sleep is not going to solve anything and really compound the problem by not dealing with it directly.

The only thing I know is, that alcohol is a depressant, meaning if you don't drink the next day than you get depressed and start drinking again. It is a vicious cycle.

yes it is. drowning your problems and sorrows in drink will only lead to alcoholism. you'll grow to become more dependent on alcohol whenever you're feeling down and out. talking to a close friend about your issues or keeping a journal or blog are some more healthy ways to help you with your issues.
