Masturbation often startes during the teen years of both male and female. That is when their body is changing the most and they discover this change. It is perfectly healthy and normal to masturbate as long as you have control over how much (there is such thing as an addiction which can be unhealthy). You will know when you are doing it too much. But for the most part, don't worry about it.

No.Masturbating frequently presents no physical, mental or emotional risk in itself, but it can be that masturbation is being used to relieve either boredom or stress. In either case, as with any "nervous habit", it is more helpful to consider the causes of the boredom or of the stress, rather than try to repress the masturbation itself.
